| There are just so many contests going on right now. But it's almost the holiday season, so we're just in the giving mood here at BuddyTV. This particular contest is really super great, so please read carefully. We are giving away one copy of the "The X-Files The Complete Collector's Edition." It is a 61-disc that landed in stores today for a steep retail price of $329.98, but one lucky BuddyTV fan can get one for free here. Here's how: Reply to this thread with your answer to the question "Would you rather fight a hostile alien race, a zombie, or a vampire? Why?" Then, log into to BuddyTV's TV Trivia Quiz page with the same user ID and take the quiz. http://www.buddytv.com/quiz/quiz.aspx The winner will be selected based on a combination of response, along with the number of points earned throughout the duration of the contest. The contest ends on November 13th at 11:59am ET/8:59am PT. Your quiz points will not be counted unless you have replied to this thread before the contest ends. Here's a description of the DVD collection: Packaged in an exclusive limited edition mega-boxset featuring several collector items including Season One comic book, classic art cards, theatrical poster and more, “THE X-FILES”–THE COMPLETE COLLECTOR’S EDITION is highlighted by all 201 episodes from the long-running series with hours of bonus features along with the 1998 feature film The X-Files: Fight The Future, plus an all-new bonus disc comprised of insider extras and featurettes that examined the complex web of alien and government conspiracies within the story arc from all four volumes of the popular The X-Files Mythology DVD collections. ![]() |

| This is a great contest. I can't believe that this is going on. Wow. Anyway, to the question. Would I rather fight an hostile alien race, zombies, or vampires. It's got to be aliens. Zombies and vampires have weakness everyone knows about. Aliens are tricky. You have to figure out their weakness and then exploit it. Overall, a much better villain because of the smartness. Besides, aliens are the only ones with cool inter space vehicles. In the words of Will Smith, "I have got to get me one of these!" |

| I'd go with the Aliens! They bring in new tech and new ideas. They're smarter then zombies or vampires and (assuming we win) we could learn a lot more from them about the universe and other planets. Zombies and vampires have nothing to give us |

| I would fight the zombie for several reasons. First of all, there is never just one zombie. Where there is one zombie, there springs up a horde of the moaning buggers. That's how they work. They are also highly underestimated as being dim-witted and easy opponents. I tell you true, this is all part of their ruse. To fight said zombie and the arrival of his imminent compatriots, you need someone who is qualified to deal with such a situation. That someone... is me. Not only have I watched every single George A. Romero "Dead" film (and all of the remakes, sequels and unofficial knock-off films in the "Return of the Living Dead" series), but I have seen countless other zombie films- 28 Days Later, the Resident Evil series, the Evil Dead series, not to mention some lesser known members of the genre (White Zombie, Zombie Holocaust, Zombi 2, etc.). This gives me a most extensive knowledge of which strategies effectively halt a zombie invasion/assault, and which strategies are best to avoid. I also have a copy of The Zombie Survival Guide, which fills in any remaining vital information that was either left out or not inferable from the above-mentioned films. This knowledge will help in the aftermath of the zombie war and aide us during the reconstruction of civilization. Further more, I am fully trained in the use of over 47 different firearms, 16 forms of swords/clubs, 9 different forms of the martial arts, and I can throw a brick nearly 70 m.p.h.. You see I am actually a part of an elite anti-zombie task force set up in joint effort by the U.S. government and the United Nations. I have been embedded into a seemingly 'normal' job in a seemingly 'normal' town. But once the zombies come, my training will kick in and you'd do best to lay low while my comrades and I do all the dirty work. I'd tell you more, but then I'd have to kill you. Finally (as if all that isn't enough to convince you of my zombie defense qualifications), I can do a mean impression of Ash (aka Bruce Campbell) from the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness series. ![]() Who wants some?

| I would fight a hostile alien race. Zombies and vampires are easier to eliminate compared to an entire alien race. The other two have specific weaknesses - zombies are extremely slow and they die when shot in the head, while vampires have an aversion to garlic and are vulnerable to stakes. Aliens, on the other hand, have no specific weaknesses since they are mysterious extraterrestrial beings that man knows very little of. Aliens also posess advanced intelligence and technology and they pose a much bigger threat to mankind than zombies and vampires. Almost anybody can kill a zombie or a vampire, but not everybody can bring down an alien race. And if I ever succeed in defeating them, I have a bigger chance of being remembered and recognized. I know that choosing to fight the harder foe sounds crazy and may look like suicide, but it's more challenging than killing off sluggish zombies and stupid vampires. And I love challenges. So bring on the alien scum!! ![]() ![]() |

So why fight a nice guy? Because I would try to talk with him and maybe he would like me in the very end! We would talk about pizza for hours and then have a bier, watching The X-Files and maybe after all, the life wouldn't end for us xfilesultimate.com | |

| I would choose to fight a vampire. I wouldn't want to go up against a zombie, because as has already been mentioned, there is never just one zombie. I don't think I would fare too well against an entire army of undead creatures who really just wanted to eat my brain (or maybe they'd have already eaten some brains and they'd just be up for some dancing à la Hollywood A.D. - but I'm not a very good dancer, so they'd probably get tired of me and eat my brain anyway). Similar with a hostile alien race - I might be able to handle one hostlie alien (but probably only if I know exactly what kind of alien it is and where to strike - back of the neck?), but not an entire race, especially if I don't have many people backing me up in the fight ('cause, hey, Mulder never really had that many people backing him up). But for vampires, I know a lot about vampire lore and could probably take out one vampire (maybe even a few at a time). Vampires are pretty easy to take care of if you can get inside their guard. Also, if I didn't win my fight against a vampire, I'd be more okay with it than if I lost a fight to a hoard of zombies or a race of hostile aliens. Granted, my odds are better with the vampire than the other two options so I should really feel embarrassed if I lose to one vampire. However, vampires are suave and sexy and seductive, whereas zombies are generally decaying and needy and aliens have never really floated my boat (sorry Brian Thompson, but even as the Alien Bounty Hunter, you were never my thing). I'd be okay with losing to a sexy vampire. And because I'm not afraid of losing to a vampire, I'd be able to win. |

| My roommate and I have had this discussion many times (although mostly just vampires v. zombies) and I've always gone with zombies. Here's my reasoning:

| Moderator ![]() ![]() | "Would you rather fight a hostile alien race, a zombie, or a vampire? Why?" Personally I'm going to have to go with Zombie because you know what your in for. Vampires? So much myth and ledgend, you have no idea. Does garlic REALLY ward them off or just make you smell funny? And well Aliens who know what you're getting with that. I mean, are we talking like Independence Day, super shielded aliens or like the kind that kidnap you and probe you? I'm gonna have to pass on both. See Zombies are a breed of their own. True enough there are different kinds (you know like the slow, night of the living dead zombies or the dawn of the dead speed freak zombies). Killing them is pretty uniform though. Gunshot ot the head or decapitation. Easy peasy. There's no force fields or fake legends to get things all mixed up! You have to be careful though. One bite from the speedfreaks and its all over! Zombies FTW!
