Default writer strike info

Strike Update - Status of My Favorite Show?
Written by Seat42f
Monday, November 05, 2007
Our inbox has been flooded with emails with questions about what is going to happen with various shows if the strike continues for an extended period of time. We did some digging and our covert strike team has assembled this best guess cheat sheet. This data represents our guess as to what is 'left in the tank' for a bunch of fan favorites. As always we keep every source 100% confidential. Our goal in this is to provide TV fans with information on the shows they love while the ‘grown-ups’ work out their differences.

All of these numbers are based on episodes that have not aired prior to 11/05/2007

FYI - We have received a bunch of emails asking about reality tv and game shows. The strike has no impact on the following shows as their writers are not governed by the WGA. These shows can air new episodes as fast as they can crank them out.

1 x 100
Amazing Race
American Idol
America's Next Top Model
Amne$ia
The Apprentice
The Bachelor
Beauty And The Geek
Big Brother
Biggest Loser
Dancing With The Stars
Deal Or No Deal
Extreme Makeover Home Edition
Last Comic Standing
Kid Nation
Phenomenon
Power Of Ten
Pussycat Dolls
Spelling Bee
Super Nanny
Survivor
Wife Swap

ABC:

Brothers & Sisters: Have aired 6 episodes to date from season two and we believe they can deliver 11 finished episodes.

Cashmere Mafia: Has not aired an episode yet and can deliver 7 finished episodes once their season kicks in. Cashmere was set to bow in November but because of the strike ABC is pushing the date back. We don't expect to see Cashmere on the schedule until 2008.

Cavemen: Have aired 4 episodes to date from their first season and word is they can deliver 12 finished episodes from their initial 13 episode order.

Dirty Sexy Money: Have aired 6 episodes to date from their first season and word is they can deliver 12 finished episodes from their initial 13 episode order.

Eli Stone: Can deliver all 13 episodes for their midseason run.

Grey's Anatomy: Have aired 6 episodes to date from their fourth season and 11 have been filmed. They also have another 2 scripts that could be shot for a total of 13 possible episodes.

Lost: We believe they have 11 episodes written but the plan is to air 8 episodes this season should the strike drag on. It’s our understanding that episode 8 provides the best place to take a break in the island action. ABC still plans to start season 4 in February of 2008.

Men In Trees: Trees is in great strike shape. They have shown 4 episodes this season and still have 2 that were shot last season before unveiling the ‘new’ episodes beginning November 23rd. Of the new episodes we believe they have 10 already shot and done and another 3-4 scripts on top of that completed. Men In Trees could run all new episodes well into 2008.

CBS:

Cane: Have aired 6 episodes to date from their first season and word is they can deliver all 13 finished episodes from their initial 13 episode order from CBS.

Criminal Minds: They have aired 6 episodes to date and we just got word that they can deliver 12 total episodes for this season.

CSI Miami: They have aired 6 episodes to date and we just got word that they can deliver 13 episodes for this season.

Jericho: They have yet to be slotted in for their second season run but will be able to deliver all 7 episodes from their 7 episode order from CBS.

Moonlight: Have aired 6 episodes to date from their first season and word is they can deliver 11 finished episodes to CBS.

CW:

Everybody Hates Chris: Will deliver all 22 of the 22 episodes the CW ordered. Strike will not be a problem for EHC in the 2007/2008 season.

Gossip Girl: Have aired 6 episodes to date from their first season and word is they can deliver 13 finished episodes from their 22 episode full season order.

Supernatural: Have aired 5 episodes to date from their third season and word is they have 11 episodes completed and as many 5 scripts that are ready to film. We fully expect Supernatural to be able to show two months of new episodes during the strike.

NBC:

30 Rock: Have aired 4 episodes to date from their second season and word is they can deliver 10 finished episodes from their 22 episode season order.

ER: Have aired 6 episodes to date and from what we have heard they should be able to deliver 13 finished episodes from their 22 episode season order.

Heroes: They Have aired 6 episodes to date from the second season. Should the strike appear to be around for the long haul word is they can deliver 11 finished episodes with the season 2 finale set for December 2007. They are reshooting the ending of their 11th episode to make it a season finale.

Journeyman: Have aired 6 episodes to date from their first season and word is they can deliver all 13 finished episodes from their initial 13 episode order from NBC.

Medium: They have yet to be slotted in to start their 2007/2008 run but will be able to deliver 9 episodes from their 22 episode order from NBC.

FX:

Nip/Tuck: Have aired 1 episode to date and word is they can deliver all 14 finished episodes.

30 Days: Season is completed and will not be affected by the strike.

Showtime:

The Tudors: Second season of the Tudors will begin in March as planned and roll through all 12 completed episodes.

Well woohoo.Supernatural can have as many as 16 episodes aired before they dry up . I like the sound of that. I would rather a whole season but 16, is better than 11.

No word on Prison Break? Where is The Man when you need to ask a really important question?

I read this Morning that the fans over at Whedonesque.com sent the writers on the line pizza yesterday.

Quote:
See this fan tribute to Joss Whedon on the occasion of the writers strike. Also in his honor, the fans delivered pizza to the picketing writers at Universal in Los Angeles.

I am freshly returned from the picket line. They have put our "team" of Battlestar writers at a secondary, but strategically important Universal side gate, primarily an entrance to the theme park but also used by productions. Even there, hidden and isolated, I was delighted to be joined by a number of fans and gentle blog readers who found me and then carried signs and endured my foot-sore company for the duration! Thank you! And, as for the rest of you, I would love to meet more of you during future mornings.

And, get this -- pizzas were delivered to me and to the other strikers down by the main gate by the generous readers of Whedonesque.com! Whoo! Pizza! Thank you, my people! You're making this bad sitch a lot more comfortable.

Thanks for the info.
Lost only has 8 scripts completed, btw.

And if I know this correctly, Prison Break has enough episodes to deliver until December, and they are going on a break till April then anyway, so hopefully we wont have to wait any extra time than what we already will have to.

Yeah, i realize the break is until April but if the strike lasts a long time, even if they go off strike they will have to be given enough time to write scripts again and film a few before putting them on air for us to see.

I think this strike might last a long time , because they are saying that the networks won't feel too much pressure until they have nothing left to air.

The last one lasted 5 months and didn't end the way the writers had hoped, so i think they are in it for the long haul. They aren't going to budge till they get what they are asking for.

I need info on Desperate Housewives. lol

And I really hope it gets resolved quickly.
This might actually mean we'll have to wait another whole year for the next season of LOST after just 8 episodes. *faints*

Are they cutting lost off at 8 eps? I mean will the 8th episode be considered the finale? Or , will there be a cliffhanger then after the strike the remaining 8 will air?

would they relly just ir the 8 eps? thats mean if they do, youd probably be better off waiting...unless #8 is written in such a way that a break is doable after it

Right, that's what i was thinking. I would hate to get caught up in the storyline just to have it yanked away after 8 eps.
