I have to admit that I don't know a lot about all that's going on but I understand that without the writers who write the episodes (it's in the name, right?!) to all these shows there would be no shows so I think it is just a little bit unfair to not pay them for their work just cause the companies chose to provide them via a different medium. So I think it's their right to go on strike and prevent the networks from making more money with new episodes they write.
(I don't know how much writers make? Are those people rich?)
What I wonder though is, what happens to all the other people affected? Liek other crew members and even caretakers in the studios. They are out of jobs now, too, aren't they?
Personally, I don't mind waiting a couple of months for new episodes too much cause there are hiatuses (hiatee?) every year anyway.

The thing is, I support the writers in all this, but I still think that they should first take a look at all the other people... I mean any normal person has a job, and they do it for whatever money they can get, Which is usually not very much.
And the writers are rich anyway, so why can't they just let it be?!?!
I also don't understand why the studios can't just give them an extra 4 cents every time their show gets played on TV.
IMO they're both being greedy right now.

I just hope that they start doing their jobs again so we can have our TV shows again.

yeah writters dont earn that much compared to a lot of the other people involved in a show
which is why they get upset, because the studios etc take all this money and they hardly see any of it
and a show is nothing without its writers, so they do deserve more
I read a Joss articles where he said the strike looks like it will be long maybe 5-12 mths :scrared:

I can't see the networks budging, not in the immediate future
anyway. That means only 11 eps for Heroes this season. >.<
Good luck to the writers because they deserve every penny.

I'm gonna look at the bright side.

There are so many shows I've been thinking of starting but since I've been dling *cough* all the new episodes from e.g. Prison Break, Heroes etc... I didn't have time to start anything new.
And now since there will be nothing but reality on TV, I can finally start some shows that I've been interested in and catch up on some that I haven't quite finished yet. [like 24, and VERONICA MARS!!! I still haven't seen a few episodes from VM!... and House and Desperate Housewives and more lol]

Guys check this out!

Quote:
As the WGA strike begins its 4th week, I've been told positive news about today's resumption of contract talks between the writers and the producers. So positive, in fact, that I'm almost fearful to post it. But here goes: a very reliable source tells me that there appears to be a deal seemingly in place between both sides. "It's already done, basically," the insider describes. That's because of the weeks worth of groundwork by the Hollywood agents working the writers guild leadership on one side, and the studio and network moguls on the other. I was told not to expect an agreement this week. But my source thought it was possible that the strike could be settled before Christmas.
Look, I don't want to raise false hope here. But this source has been very accurate in the past. The negotiations starting today will have a news blackout, so don't expect any significant leaks. But consider the real possibility there's been a breakthrough. Still, I must caution that this is Hollywood -- where defeat is snatched from the jaws of victory nearly every time.
