i had a racing day today...i´m not sure if you know this race, but it´s called Velká Pardubická in czech... you culd know that smiley, cause there are some horses who take part in in,too.and cal you might know german jockey Peter Gehm who was multiple winner of this race with Registana... anyway i´m in really bad mood, cause i was excited and couldn´t wait to watch it,but it was rather bad...this year it was pretty confusing and even tragedic... there died one horse who had really terrible accident...he nearly lost whole his leg and stood just on three and his joceky ran away, fell down on the ground and couldnt watch it... ...i felt really bad for them...then winner was disqualified, because he broke some rules.... just pretty crappy race

^^^ I think that's the race that horses have to be over a certain age to race... maybe 6 years or so.... also lots of fences.... involved... I have heard of it... but not from anyone who ever raced in it....

Our horses are not old enough yet to race in it yet and I doubt my father would go that far... but I do know of people in horsing circles that have gone further to race in more well known ones then that....

My old Nurses Home, many years ago.... where I lived when I did some nurse training, overlooked Leopardstown Racetrack in Dublin.... I used to hop out my back window and onto the side of the race course to watch the races instead of having to pay to go in at the main gates.... We had stregetically placed a wooden board and a bit of barbed wire in the place/gap where we could get thru.... no one ever knew a thing.... worked every time!!!

Right after my lectures.... I just pretty much ignored the Matron's pleading for one of us to do an extra night shift... and ran right straight into nurses home, dumped all my newly acquired lecture notes on nearest dry flat surface, and still in uniform, starched hat rolled up in my pocket... and headed right out the window with a handful of the other girls.... to make the 4.30pm race meetings...

Two and a half years solid we did that.... didn't get caught once.... Jeez, I'm sure the current batch of students are probably up to the same thing even now as we speak!!! .... In fact, it was a true art form that was even passed down to our year group from the year before....

We had one window to sneak out of to go to the racing and another window that we could sneak all the boys in thru.... worked well for years.... Random Matron checks were a breeze too... Oh those were the days....

HaHaHaHaHa Matron.... Try and do your best to work out which one of your star A+ students Smiley is..... Bet you'll never guess.....EVER!!!!! I'll give you a massive clue here... now sit up and think real hard.... ..... I may or may not have been the one with the whopping great big hangover and the great big dried in Budweiser beer spill stain on her nurses hat, on Graduation Day.......

Ahhh it's all coming back to you now... Matron.... You loved me really....

My random.... hmmm..... I think, therefore I am............

^^^ And before you say another word, Debaser.... Smiley knows cars..... including the Shelby Daytona Cobra..... to give it it's full name....I think!!!

I dunno though, what you see in it... there are better cars then that.... ok, one could argue that it's smooth aerodynamically.... but, IMO... it's kind of shaped like a box - Not a girlie car at all!!!

It's an old make though.... first made around the mid 60's, I think.... wow.... yep, I agree in a way, it is/was a classic car.... stll wouldn't like one though.... they only have two seats..... I hate two seated things... I like my space... for bags, and general clutter.... and the kid... can't leave the kid behind at the side of the road cause you have run out of seats!!!!

Do you know that the guy who named it a Cobra.... always maintained the name came to him in a dream.....

I know.... Smiley is weird.... what can I say other then I do like vintage cars.... I take after my mother in that respect.... we chat all the time about old cars when I'm home!!!!

Funny enough, I haven't yet found out what her opinion is on 1967 Chevy Impala's.... I'll have to get back to you on that one!!!

I hear the new Ford Shelby GT500KR is a good car.... ish..... The new Knight Rider movie is using it as the next KITT!!!

Ahhhh I miss the old KITT.... What type of car was that one? ..... And don't say a smart talking car who could both turbo boost and put up with The Hoff at the same time....... JUST DON'T!!!

lol...i didn't kno you knew so much about cars Smiley One! apparently more than i do! Shelby's are just the All-American car to me...I've always had a fascination with Mustangs ever since i was like 8 or 9 something like that...so much so that I own one now...there's a picture of it on my prof page (graffitti)

Oh and KITT was always highly debated as to whether it was a Trans Am or Firebird...its a 1982 Trans Am...but i think Firebirds are so much more badass IMO

Also...we all kno the '67 Impala is major...but what are your thoughts on the '67 Camaro? Now that's one wicked machine! again IMO

No, I disagree .... You will know so much more then me about cars.... They are not a passion of mine... I just remember facts when they are told to me during family conversations, every now and again!

My late Grandfather, used to do up vintage cars... the ones you used to have to wind up at the front.... He always had at least two of them in his garage all thru my young years. He used to do them up with two other guys... and then they did something with them... shows or something... I truly can't remember what became of them...

My mother, through association, then picked up a love of cars from being the first one he usually ran into out of all the children when he came in from the garage after working on them. So she used to share that passion with the rest of us when she ran her own home... she has box full of old toy cars to do with that time... they come with booklets and all...

They only come out on special occasions.... Like when you are introducing a new potential son in law to the fold... etc... She did it with my ex husband, first time I took him home to meet my family.... out came the box and the books and she reeled off this whole conversation about cars, their engines and histories... etc...

I kept saying to him.... 'Don't let her reel you in.... ... she's like Emily Gilmore out of Gilmore Girls.... she has a long agenda, she's psyching you out....She'll go in for the kill very soon... '' but hell no... did he listen??? It's a well known initiation process in our family, my mum with her cars test.... Others have passed the test... he didn't stand a chance!!!

You can, for the record... usually now work out what car type she is in a mood to discuss.... by sort of testing the waters beforehand.... then we do a quick research on it and voila! ... All is well!!! My father is a much easier challenge... you just need to talk horses and farming with him.... He gives in easier generally!!!

Funny though, how this chat about cars has brought back those funny memories....

For the record.... I don't really like cars, generally... to me they are functionable.... they get you from A to B.... IMO... It makes no difference if you are driving a porshe, camero, cobra or a small cheap little runabout that bearly runs... we are all usually stuck in the same traffic jams and at the same red light!!! And I hate those young guys that speed passed you in the next lane, Oh don't get me started on them.... they give me a proper headache!!!

Camero, btw..... isn't that the car that Starsky & Hutch had? I don't know too much about that one... other then I think it's the one with the stripes down the front of it.... I must have switched off during that family discussion.....

Ok then.... that's my rant over for today..... Be good all!!! I'm off now for a day out somewhere.... It's a bit cold outside and my picnic still needs to be made... Chat later
