Talking All you Canucks out there!

I am ashamed to say that I netflicked the first season of Degrassi Jr. High on DVD. *hangs head*

Couple little notes about it, from someone who knew absolutely NOTHING about it going in (and want to keep it that way folks, so please no spoilers on future happenings in future seasons, or the HIGH/NEW GEN/JAY & SILENT BOB EPS, please).

1. Favorite characters? I guess it'd be the two little guys Arthur and Yik. Kinda awkward, yet endearing.

2. I just closed my eyes in embarrassment at so much of the stuff going on thinking, "Please God, let me not have been like that, and if I was, please never let me find out"

3. Joey. I just wanna take a baseball bat and beat the ever living snot outta that kid. It's rare you find someone that you want to be friends with and beat the **** out of at the same time. That takes talent, so therefore, I suppose Joey (pick a letter) Jeremiah is a talented kid.

4. You guys really say Aboot and Eh? I thought that was just a joke. lol Not really, but...well...yeah.

5. The "French Fries and Gravy" line from the first episode just had me rolling, remembering the line from Super Troopers. "We're just going over to Canada to have some French Fries and Gravy, sir."

6. I've watched the first 8 episodes (disc 3 of season 1 will be here tomorrow (Thursday) or Friday (or Saturday). After that I'll be done with the first season.

Any Canucks have any thoughts on the first season (AND ONLY THE FIRST SEASON) lol

Let me know...

First off, feel no shame my friend. I too own Degrassi Jr. high. Though I have not watched it yet. Bought it purely for nestalgic reasons, although you've inspired me to crack open those DVD, after Lost is finished of course.
I grew up LOVING that show, similar to what wednesday night is to us now, that was Monday night to me back then. Since I don't remember the show, season for season, perhaps I shouldn't say too much......But I will tell you that Joey is like a fine wine, the guy gets better and better as time goes on. He's definitly a classic. I really don't think that we say a-boot ( Im currently sitting here repeating it.....nope, sounds like ABOUT to me....)
Glad to hear that you are enjoying the show. Its become a huge part of Canadian culture.

Yeah there is no shame in watching that show. Apperently it has quite a following in the states. As the last poster said Joey does get better and better as the show goes on, he is easily my favorite character.

I'm only 22 and remember alot about that show but can't remember season by season. But I think the reason it's so popular is cause of the situations the show follows, it gets more and more risky as well.

I actually noticed they show the old show on a channel in the states, The Nog or something like that, but out of order, still coold they show some Canadian culture down there. I also watch the new one too, sad I know but it just hooked me when I saw they had original characters on the show and I got to see them after like 15 years.

I as a proud Canadian must protest on saying Aboot, I have never said that. I think that's mostly from Newfoundland or something. I will admit to saying eh alot though. I also am a huge fan, living in Quebec, of the Poutine. Fries in gravy but these come with Curd Cheese. Anyways, you'll have fun watching that show, it's classic and still lives up to the test of time, I think so anyway.......except maybe the clothes, lol.
