Shirley Manson is not a name synonymous with episodic television.  The Garbage lead singer has long been a fan favorite among a certain subset of music fans, mostly of the Grunge variety, and they may not be overly enthused by her new gig: Manson has signed on to join the cast of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.  FOX's Terminator is ramping up for production on season two, and Manson will play Catherine Weaver, the CEO of a state-of-the-art high-tech company.  Whatever that is.  The company will surely have somethiing to do with the development of SkyNet.  Manson has not really dabbled in acting at all over the past two decades – Terminator will easily be her most high-profile TV work.

Hey, Garbage is awesome. I'm excited for this news, though I wish she was on a show that I actually watch. Or maybe I don't, depending on her acting ability.

She may be a cool singer but I don't know how well of an actress she will be. This is a bold move on the SCC cast. I will have to wait and see how it affects the show.

I'm going to assume she can't be that bad, it's not like Garbage is a hot commodity right now, so they can't be casting her just to get a lot of viewers. But it is interesting and something I could have never predicted.

She's got that same 'you don't think she's pretty at first but then you realize she's a dream' look that Summer Glau has...I can totally see her working out as an actress. If Glau weren't playing a robot I'd think they were casting Manson as her mother.
