Default Survivor: Brazil 2009

recap 2/12/09

the 1st episode was fun! It had the usual with some twists.

If I mistake some names or people, please excuse me.

RED team "J"- Stephen, Sandy, Spencer, Joe, Carolina, JT, Taj, Sydney- this team had the least amount of supplies/food/water when they jumped off the truck

BLACK team "T"- Sierra, Debbie, Jerry, Jerra (?), Coach, Tyson, Erinn, Brendan, Candace- this team had most stuff & seemed to work well together

The surprise vote about who was weakest on both teams was a hoot. That host always likes to state the OBVIOUS and start some trouble.
RED- Stephen the geek got 1 vote & Sandy (aka Granny/Old Lady) got the rest
BLACK-Erinn the small skinny chick got 1 vote while Sierra the really sickly skinny chick got all the others
But wait, SURPRISE!!!! those 2 gals weren't being voted off. They got a helicopter ride to camp instead since their tribe thought they couldn't make the 4 hour trek through the jungle.

Elimination Challenge was exciting although it was the typical race/puzzle thing. Both teams were kind of even:
Red Team-Carolina & Sydney (2 younger cuter girls) were pretty slow & dead weight in the water, meanwhile Sandy was loud & bossy BUT she did great on her puzzle
Black Team-Sierra did well on her puzzle & Tyson is VERY competitive & tough during challenges (physical asset for group but threat for individual immunity) and Erinn did well on her puzzle too

BLACK TRIBE WON! But it was close.

Tribal Council- It was almost a done deal, sending Granny home but Carolina whines a lot about how much work everybody else should be doing; plus she has a weird Mickey Mouse voice that doesn't help and she was one of the few people who sucked during the challenge...and good ol' Spencer actually spoke up for Sandy and suggested the guys rethink their initial vote

See ya Carolina.

Gotta say, I think there's hope for this season if the loopy old lady wins out over the big boobed whiny chick.

OTHER 1st impressions:
* that cattle rancher with the cute accent is a winner
**that military man could be a silent threat
***Coach talks way too much and comes off as a big phony flake; he's playing way too hard & too fast;I hope he won't last long

Next week's epsiode looks pretty intense with a big physical game that encourages some hand-to-hand combat. It could get ugly very early.

Default First Impressions Mean Squat on Survivor: Tocantins

The castaways' first challenge: Pronounce Tocantins correctly.
Not really, but true to form, the 18th-season opener of Survivor: Tocantins—The Brazilian Highlands presented the 16 new eager-beaver castaways with a twist within the first few minutes.
But instead of voting their early nonfavorites off, the Jalapao and Timbira tribes were actually giving the losers of the first-impression contest a comfy helicopter ride to camp. And those quick-to-judge tribemates had to trek through the heat for four hours, hauling all their gear.
The early outcasts, "older woman" Sandy Burgin and sore-throat sufferer Sierra Reed, reacted quite differently to being shunned: Sandy thumbed her nose at her tired team by spending her free time searching for an Immunity Idol, while poor, sniffly Sierra decided it was more important to "look good in the eyes of [her] crew" and built a camp for her tribe to come home to.
It was Jalapao, which singled out Sandy, that earned a trip to Tribal Council tonight. But it was ultimately misunderstood bartender Carolina Eastwood—"sometimes my directness comes off as being whiny"—who became the first person voted off of Survivor: Tocantins, 7-1.
So it all begins again. Is Sandy the new Randy? Does Benjamin "Coach" Wade have a clue? Will Sierra prove to be as fragile as her last name implies?
