On Sunday night’s finale of Survivor: Micronesia, Jeff Probst told the audience that fans felt that this season was second only to the very first season, which premiered in 2000. What’s interesting about that statement is, that even though fans may have liked this season, it didn’t translate into viewers. This past Sunday was the lowest rated Survivor finale in the show’s history, bringing in only 13 million viewers. That’s down 5 percent, while the reunion was down 13 percent from the previous year.To read the rest, click here.

That's a long run for a reality show. Maybe the only other one is RealWorld. I like both of these shows and hope they can survive the ratings game. Sponsors and TV execs. don't care about anything other than the bottom line. They usually don't allow a show to catch on. Either they move them from night to night, or show 1 episode, then it's cancelled. I wish our feelings mattered in some way.

Wow, 17 seasons, I find that hard to believe considering I've not missed one show aside from the catchups in the middle of the season, But yes I must agree that some of the editing makes for a sometimes boring show. Actually sometimes im watching and waiting for it to get more interesting. Dont get me wrong here, Im still a fan and that wont change. Im already looking forward to next season. PS, Amanda looks a lot hotter without all that makeup. I wish I could start a poll to see how many others agree with that one.

In Australia, they sporadically show seasons, and they are usually 2 to 3 weeks behind, making it very difficult for hard core fans like myself to control themselves, and leading to really bad ratings. We did not get this season, but I attained it by other means, and will continue to do so for Gabon. I cannot see it getting much better!

That's strange. I liked the recent seasons a lot more than the first ones.

I have watched almost every season with a few exceptions (Africa, Marquesas, and Vanuatu). I definitely plan on watching Gabon, though. This season had a slow start for me but really kicked into gear after the merge. Maybe too little, too late for the average viewer.

I just hope that next season has a lot less injuries. I feel it takes something away from the game when players are forced out for medical reasons.
