Unhappy I've a Feeling This is the End

Hi! Just thought I'd bum out those of you who are like me and wish the show could go on at least one more season (I vote 2) after 5 and thrill those of you who hope it ends after 5!

I just have a strong feeling this is it. Why? Well, of course, there's Kripke's five-year-plan that he has gone on and on and on and on about. THEN there's the baffling array of guest stars that are slated to appear. AND, of course, we've got the apocalypse. Personally, I see no reason for the show to keep topping itself. I'm weird, what can I say. I adored the show when it was the "simple" story of two amazing, human brothers kicking supernatural ass and I'd still adore it if it basically went back to that (only they have an angel friend and stuff). BUT it seems most fans expect a show to keep ramping things up and shooting off fireworks. And season 5 looks like it's gearing up to be that last fireworks display of the night. The one where all the stops are pulled out and every dazzling, fantastic thing they've got is thrown into the mix. *KABLAAAM!* *CRACK! POP!* *BOOM!* *SIZZLE SIZZLE!*

So, although it breaks my heart; really, it does, I think this is the end, my friends.

I guess those of you who selfishly want this thing to wrap up all in the neat, bright, perfect, sizzling little bow of your choosing are thrilled at that idea. Those of us who enjoy every delicious detail of this juicy story and would like to see more are bummed, however.

However, I'm hoping there will follow, soon enough, a wonderfully well-made Supernatural movie. It will be awesome. And not a cheap, steaming pile. All important characters will be in it and it will be intense, scary, gritty, messy, heartbreaking, hilarious and thrilling! WOOOO! YES! Hopefully, it'll hit arount 20011/2013.

Sweetie, come on....
I don't really know about Eric, but even Jensen said so .His five year plan was about the thing that he came to the network and told them "Guys, I have the show and I have plan for five series ..." He said that few years ago and as Jensen said it mainly depends on ratings!
J2M all kept saying that it doesn't have to be final season, that the fourth one was supposed to be the last one etc... 24 eps ain't enough! I'm sure they can have plan at least for season six, too. There's a lot of things to say, reveal...... I think they're also great writers and will do well....
I'd die if it was the last season.. I'm not really prepared to let them go....
I've been with the show since the beginning and it's hard to imagine it'd be gone....

Cookie, promise me that you'll be haunting down spn board (misha's thread), even when this board turn out to the ghost town...

I always thought that Master Kripke didn't want to do more than 5 seasons, because of the 5 seasons story arc quote. I was of the opinion, ok, the man has an artistic vision for his story to be told in 5 seasons, so he shouldn't be forced against his will (or bribed by a ton of money ) to slaughter his artistic vision and tag on 1 or 2 or 3 or however many seasons. I personally can't imagine SPN without Master Kripke. Not saying that I would refuse to watch it, but I'd be unhappy. I'd feel like the network kidnapped his baby.

HOWEVER the quotes that now surface, about that the network was worried Master Kripke couldn't make SPN last for 5 seasons, therefore he gave them a 5 season outline, sound completely different. With the first quote it's like Master Kripke refused to go past 5 seasons, with this quote it's more likely he'll be up for additional seasons.
Personally I'd vote for 7 seasons, too, because that's what Buffy got - IF Master Kripke is on board.

I agree with helps, the Js both were pretty optimistic about a S6 at Asylum Con. And with the explanation to clear up the "Eric said no more than 5 seasons" I am optimistic too.

Really? Baffling? Like whom? Do they finally bring in Chad Michael Murray? I don't think it's baffling that they bring back Sam Ferris/Ellen.

Of course the apocalypse is not easily trumped (and I personally don't want them to go back to 1st season stand alone eps), but who's to say the apocalypse storyline can't be spread out over 2 seasons, like they did with YED?

So fear not ye, Cookie. I don't think it's written just yet that S5 will be the last season.

With that said, I would prefer them to stop at season 5 than to make additional seasons and jump the shark. I want to be able to remember SPN fondly as a show that never went downhill, but became continually stronger with each season.

You are bitter about something that hasn't even happened yet - what do you mean "of my choosing"? I doubt that The CW will listen to me in that matter (or in any other matter) And whenever it wraps up I highly doubt it will be "bright".

Actually, there are more guest stars slated to appear than those. I don't remember them all at the moment. Oh, wait, A.P. (Jess) for one, remember? In the Lounge, there's a season 5 spoiler thread that can give you more details. Sera and others has/have even said things that have people speculating the mother of all guest stars--Jeff, of course--may show up. That's nothing concrete at all, mind you. Just seems like they're pulling out all the stops. Why do that if there's another season or more planned?

By "of your (and by "your" I didn't mean specifically you, Calena, of course) choosing" I mean an ending that wraps things up in a gigantic, BOOM ending. That doesn't do what, in your minds, would be jumping the shark. Not everyone agrees on shark jumping, you know. Just because some people think a show has done that, it doesn't mean everyone does. I don't really understand not wanting others to go ahead and enjoy a show just because you don't any longer. That's what imagination is for. If one doesn't like the way a show is going, one can stop watching it and imagine it going the way they want to. Meanwhile, those who are still enjoying it may do so.

The tale of the Winchesters is, to me, rich. There's plenty there, I feel, without the show topping itself and setting off those fireworks. It's sad, to me, that the show will feel it has to end because it assumes most people can't deal with a strong, juicy, continuing story rather than one that keeps blowing itself away.

I don't know if that made any sense. Lol! I need more caffeine!

IT MADE A LOT OF SENSE!! AND I'M THERE WITH YOU SISTER! AMEN!!! NOT EVERYONE THINKS ABOUT THE SHOW THE SAME WAY! PRISON BREAK FANS AWERE FOR EXAMPLE BITCHING ABOUT SEASON 3 AND ALTHOUGHT NOT ALL EPISODES WERE that GREAT I STILL LOVED IT! (UNTIL THEY ANNOUNCE THE CERTAIN THING = JUMPING THE SHARK IN S4). I THINK SPN SHOULD GO ON, BECAUSE THEY HAVE GREAT WRITERS AND GREAT STORY TO TELL. THERE'S A LOT OF THINGS THEY COULD TELL US. AT LEAST FOR ONE OR TWO SEASONS, THAT'S FOR SURE!
i WOULDN'T WANNA SHOW BE WITHOUT ERIC, THAT'S FOR SURE BUT IF HE GAVE THE PREMISSION, I'D GET OVER IT. OF COURSE, IT'D FEEL A BIT WEIRD, BUT AS LONG AS THEY ALL WORK LIKE THE TEAM, I'M OKEY WITH IT.

I humbly disagree on general principle here. Sure I could stop watching - in theory. In reality I couldn't because I am too damn curious. And once it jumped the shark in my opinion I can't honestly advertise it as the greatest show ever anymore.
So you telling me if it went in a direction you hated, getting really soapy for example (unless you like really soapy ), having the boys girlfriends riding with them in the back of Impala, and then it turned out that Sam's girlfriend is actually their half-sister and she and Dean cheated on Sam and now she's pregnant with Dean's baby twins, you'd either a) still watch with as much joy you are watching now and/or b) shrug and say "ok, I don't like it anymore, but you people out there who still love it, enjoy" . You wouldn't moan about it?

Well, I agree that they could have drawn out the Dean going to hell storyarc for 2 seaons - giving us much more stand alone eps, making S3&4 out of what is now S3. What is S4 could have been S5 and what will be S5 could have been S6&7.
But how would you end this series, if not with a BOOM? Did you watch The OC or read the 7th Harry Potter book? Is that the ending you'd like?

JDM showing up is a long time overdue. Did you hear they filmed a scene with him for Grey's and then DIDN'T USE IT???? Unbelievable!
Maybe so many guest stars are re-emerging because now it's really cool to be in SPN?

It always helps.... ....

Ratings are quite high at the moment... despite the fact that here in UK, ITV keep insisting on putting the show on at the most God awful late hours that only a hardened fan would stay up for.... J2 and Misha did all say in various terms etc at recent Cons, they're all up for more and other past guests other then Ellen character are due to appear again in the show.... wish they would get Daddy Winchester back there.... I seriously don't know what's keeping them... I swear if the guy makes himself unavailable one more time by doing another soppy movie, I will personally picket outside the local cinema from time it starts showing in there til the time they pull the plug on it!!! I will.... Don't tempt me.....

Talking of ex SPN actors re-emerging.... it seems like before they all drift back to the show, they all have to do at least one stint on a Law & Order show.... Good God, most days it's like an SPN or even Prison Break reunion on there.... top class stuff....

Of course I'd moan if the show took a turn I didn't like. I never said I wouldn't. There'd be moaning and probably some whining, belly-aching and bitching for good measure. But, yes, I would think the show should go on for those who are still enjoying it! I wouldn't think it should end just because I don't like how it's going and so that I could advertise it as the best show ever. *shrug* I'd say it was the best show ever up 'til _____.

I don't mind the guys getting girlfriends, actually. Oh, I think we already discussed this in "Winchester Girls." It doesn't mean it has to turn soapy. Your soapy description made me giggle, though, and I think that'll be our next project after we wrap up the slasher flick: "Supernatural, the Soap Opera." "Damn it, Dean, the baby isn't yours! It's Cas's! Why do you think she's a giant?!" "Dean, that wasn't even me who drank the demon blood and broke the last seal! It was my . . . EVIL TWIN BROTHER DAD NEVER TOLD US ABOUT!" DUN DUN DUUUUUUN!! Yeees. This will be fun!

I want the show to end with possibilities. Not some blaze-of-glory, Winchester-death BOOM. I'd love a smart ending that leaves us with possibilities and hints at their future. I'd actually love a strong hint that they may settle down (insofar as a Winchester can) and have some sort of peace for at least a while. I think I've gone into the details elsewhere. Not that I mind doing so again if asked! I don't need a world-burnin', Team Winchester-dyin', shock ending. Nope. Call me crazy, but I love the idea of our darling heroes getting a just reward for a change (in this life; not in heaven). I love them, what can I say? Oh, and I'm unfamiliar with the endings of which you spoke, sorry. Never watched the O.C. and not a big H.P. fan.

Default I'm with you, Cookie!

I also want an open end, no glorious Winchesters death -end, thanks. What becomes to the subject of this thread... I don't even want to think about it. I've been with this show since the very beginning of it (in Finland) and my heart is aching even by the thought of the end after the next season . BUT Sera (and was it also Kripke, who said the same) said in one interview (if I remember right) that they have ideas for couple of more seasons - I'm counting to that.

Dammit.... But I have just heard that ITV (our TV Channel that show SPN here in UK) are seriously thinking of dropping SPN 5 as a show they are going to screen here from the autumn.... despite the fact that the show is one of the more popular ones here in the UK on ITV2.... Also it's treatment of it on ITV 1 channel is just pitiful as well.... Last week the lass introducing the show on at 11pm on ITV1 said the words.... 'And Now SPN, ITV2's show....' like it was a hassle for them to put it on air.... Oh I dunno.... I swear if I have to start calling ITV up everyday myself until they crack, I will do so..... I can't even think about having to watch S5 for it's entire season on a little box on my computer, with subtitles down the side of it....
