never heard of Martial Arts??? Sarah Michelle Gellar, who plays Buffy, is a brown or black belt in Teakwondo.
You really know way too less about Buffy or things people are able to do.

If you really think it´s magical then all people who practise Shaolin Kung Fu must be magicians.
Ever seen a show? Oh wait, I shouldn´t ask you that since you have never seen, heard or read (about) things you talk about.

I'm gonna print all these new answer out and take them with me into the staff meeting I have to leave for in 20 mins. No way I can read it all and answer to it now.

Actually I watched the first ep of Buffy yesterday - couldn't resist. If you want, Cookie, I can match you ep for ep.
It occured to me that "no super powers" might not be exactly correct, Buffy is exceptionally strong, and I think that is something that is not because of training, but comes with the Slayer package, as does the super fast healing.
But that doesn't change the fact that Buffy does not use magic when fighting.

Isn't that comment a bit harsh?

no, why? If she would know Buffy and Kung Fu artists she´d know that she´s wrong when she says that it´s impossible to do certain things.

She´s not well imformed about things and just makes things up.

In fairness though..... as I am also not a Buffy fan in the true sense.... I may have used those words or a phrase like that one too..... it doesn't have to mean she, I or anyone else is misinformed as such.... there are tons of shows and movies that have characters climbing vertically up walls etc.... with n'er a single lesson done in any of these specialised arts.... Spiderman is one of them that comes to mind, right off the top of my head.... so in that sense.... all may not be as cut and dry in this area as you think!!! For the record.... I didn't know either that Buffy was trained in all this Kung Fu stuff and I have watched the show a few times....

Kung Fu was just an example.
But Buffy was trained very well in Martial Arts. And Kung Fu is Martial Arts...but there also a lot more...judo, karate etc.

Angry MAN, Screw that Buffy Chick! Damn!!!!

Ack! Well, candy, seeing as how I just "make stuff up," according to Sonny, you may want to disregard this post , but, if not, I'll try to clarify what I was saying.

I guess I shouldn't have said "exact" size. "Comparable," or "female equivalent" is what I meant. Let's see. Let's take Sammy, for instance. Sammy is, as I've said, a lil' taller than the average guy and more buff. But he's not a body builder or wrestler or strong man, cage fighter, etc. So, let's say we're talking him and a comparable women. No, she's not the same height as he is, etc. But SHE, too, is as much over the average height and average muscle build for women as Sammy is for a man. The female equivalent. Understand now? I'm no doctor, so I can't prove it . . . far be it from me to "make stuff up!" But, from what I've been able to gather . . . not that I'm an expert, mind you! In this scenario, if each got the same exact beating, the woman would be more badly hurt.

I wasn't talking about being able to handle pain. Yep, I definitely see most men as being way more wussy about it. I was talking about actual damage.

As to Sonny, wow! I certainly wasn't making things up and boy do ever regret mentioning Buffy! I didn't realize there were such passionate Buffy fans here who can't bear anyone saying anything misinformed (again, I clearly stated that I was only going on what little I did know about her) about her and take it so personally! I don't know if I want to even watch it now! Listen, people, I'm sorry, but I don't give a flying flip how she fights or what skills she has! I was using what very little I'd seen of her in the show as a one-time illustration for a certain point! Just pointing out that the Winchesters don't fight like her, so neither would girl Winchesters! HOWEVER she fights and HOWEVER she got her skills, THAT KIND OF FIGHTING DOESN'T GO DOWN ON SUPERNATURAL! OK?!! I don't care if she knows every "do" in the world! I don't care if Crouching Tiger tree-top fighting is for really reals and she can do it! THEY DON'T FIGHT LIKE THAT IN SUPERNATURAL, SO IT'S IRRELEVANT! Wow! I never claimed to know all about her OR martial arts! I was only talking about a female version of the Winchesters! YIKES, man! All I was ever trying to say was that if they had done the show EXACTLY AS IT HAS BEEN DONE, (EXACTLY! Same kinds of fighting/injuries, etc., characters having the exact same training, background, abilities, etc.) ONLY USING CHICKS INSTEAD OF DUDES, I THINK IT'D HAVE BEEN EVEN HARDER TO BELIEVE! SHEESH! From this point on, I refuse to talk about Bitchy . . . er . . . Buffy! I will try to watch that ep. Calena, and give my honest review for ya (although I'm not sure it could be unbiased at this point, cuz I think I hate that martial arts-using-cheerleading bitch! Man! Sorry. )

I do not "make things up," nor did I, again, ever claim to be any sort of expert or all knowledgable about some of the things I touched on! I even clearly stated I hadn't seen but a partial ep. or two of Buffy (if that! It's been so long, I'm not even sure I did! I know I saw commercials, at least) and was only going by what I'd seen and been told! Jesus!

And, obviously (as I bet anyone else who read that sentence realized) I was exaggerating about "no fighter in the world" doing stuff like that! I was talking about usual, normal (for non Asians, heh heh) fighting. Down and dirty, in-your-face, for-your-life fighting OF THE KIND THE WINCHESTERS DO!!

And of course I know that martial arts exist! But think of the show; think what the guys fight. Monsters. Have you, for instance, ever heard of someone martial-artsing their way out of a bear or lion attack?! "In other news today, a man managed to escape with his life in Kenya when a lion attacked him and he karate chopped it to death. This is the third life saved from a lion thanks to martial arts this year." That's pretty equivalent to what Dean and Sammy do; they're not matching martial arts skills with martial-arts-trained monsters. And ya can't freakin' martial arts your way out of getting telekinetically body slammed by a demon! I'm just sayin'.

And don't bother sending me a link to someone surviving a giant animal attack thanks to martial arts! I'm talking about more usual, every-day-life scenarios here, OK?

Whew!

You never know who is a Buffy fan until you start discussing her then we come out of the woodwork . We are stealthy like that.

I'm sorry, but I must take issue with this. The statement about anything a guy can do, we can do better . . . it's just scientifically untrue! (The same is true if you reverse that statement.) If this were true, you'd see men boxing and wrestling (real wrestling) women, etc. It's simply untrue.
I wanna touch on this for a minute. I don't know exactly how much you know about boxing and wrestling but both of these sports go by weight classes , that being said ,of course you don't see women boxing or wrestling men. Women can be pretty buff at 150-180 depending on height, where as a man will usually be pushing 200 lbs and that is why you do not see many women boxing or wrestling men. It has nothing to do with ability it's about weight. You have to box or wrestle within your weight class.

I know, right? You sneaky Buffy fans! If anyone ever dare speak her name, she/he's better know everything about her! I've learned the hard way!

As to what you said about boxing/wrestling, *SIIIGH* I. Know. And why do you think that is? If we're so equal and a woman of equivalent build/strength/weight, etc. is so freaking equal and we can do anything a man can do and take a beating as well as they can, then these chicks would be put in the ring with the dudes!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAIIIIGGGHHHH! That's. All. I. Was. Ever. Trying. To. Say!!!! *SOB* *Wrings hands* *Pops Valium . . . two . . . three."

I give up, my Buffy-crazed buddies! I have no idea how much clearer I can state what I'm trying to say. Perhaps you should have a chat with some actual boxers/wrestlers/martial arts experts. Or doctors. I don't know. I just know I can't, apparently, get my point across. I tried. Hard. I'm waving the white flag and bowing out.

Long Live Buffy or whatever. Sure, chick Winchesters could handle everything the dude ones do just as well as the dude ones do (see, I'm too beaten down to use more proper grammar/words now). I'm sure it'd have been a huge, ginormous hit. With everyone. Except me, who'd have been too busy "making stuff up" to realize the genius before me. I'm sure all those hit war movies would've come across the same and been as successful if the main soldier characters had all been chicks, too. And Rocky 4 would've been as successful with a chick playing Drago, etc. Girl power. Hear me roar. And stuff. 'Scuse me while I head off to work on my car, move a grand piano then do some cage fighting with a dude . . . I am gonna kick his ass; my schedule's full. *SIGH* *slump* *crawl . . . tail firmly between legs* *whimper*

This is not true. Unless I am just reading this entirely wrong ..to me it comes of as to say that the weight classes were practically invented to keep the women from wrestling the men . Weight classes have been there since the beginning of the sport. I say if a woman in boxing is pushing 200 by all means let her wrestle/box the men. I think women can take just as much of a beating as men ....just ask all the women who are battered wives. They take a beating and keep on coming back for more ...ok that wasn't funny and apologize for my bad joke ....but you get the point.

LOL @ your last paragraph . I choked on the water I was drinking as I was reading it .

In all seriousness , you should give Buffy a chance. I think you might actually enjoy it . The first season wasn't exactly stellar but that was just the show trying to find it's footing, just like any other new series. If you can make it to season two , that is where it really starts to get wonderful. Season one has too many stand alone episodes IMO .

You make it sound like men have some magical protective layer of skin that protects then from having to withstand brute force trauma. Or, better yet, it sounds like the components of a man's body are completely different from a female's, like a man's bones are made of solid steel and his muscles are made of solid rock.

Women are more than capable of wrestling with men. It all depends on the woman's size and strength and how it compares to the man she is competing against.
