Did 'Chick-Gate' Help Promote 'Supernatural?'

There's that old aphorism in show business that there is no such thing as bad publicity, and that has certainly held true for the CW's Supernatural. The furor caused over the addition of new female characters, a move regarded by many fans and journalists alike as an attempt to sex up the show, certainly was a boon for the franchise. Now that the first character, Ruby, has redeemed her presence by revealing herself as a demon, an unexpected twist, the second character, Bella, appears to have established herself as a bit of a snarky foil.

i think that now that shes a demon i wanna kno more about her and stuff i dont think it was a bad idea rather a good one....just dont make them love interests hehe

I have huge amounts of faith in Kripke... I think he will do what he has said all along, and has proven so far that season 3 is the best yet. I'm still slightly wary of Bella, but isn't that a good thing given who her character is? I'm really curious about Ruby, and glad to see her have more depth than maube was expected. Like I said, I tust Kripke... i can only pray that CW can too!

I'm not fully trusting yet of this season. Has anyone noticed that our classic rock music has been M.I.A. since the showed premired? The music is much a part of Supernatural as is the Impala. And what's with all the "brightness"?? The show looks different to me as well. Supernatural was dark & scary. What, did they cave to the "can we make it brighter" people aka Dawn Ostroff aka "idiot woman of the CW"?? I could care less about these new females, just give me back my old Supernatural that focuses on Sam & Dean & I'll be happy. So far not so much.

Ruby's demonic personality wasn't as big of a surprise to some of us as it was to others and Bela has yet to really fit in. Not to be negative, but I hardly saw a "Boon" since ratings didn't really skyrocket with the addition of two females. Also, I do hope that if they fit Bela into the mythology, they would extend the favor to Dean, who seems to be the only one left out of it so far. :/

This show HARDLY needed sexing up! It has two of the hottest guys on tv nowadays...
I dont know about the girls, they take away screen time from samanddean which is the MAIN reason I watch!!! You hear me Krip???

The boon is in that the show didn't drop. It's pretty consistent, where it would be expected for a third season to show some drop off.

I never had a problem with the girls being on Supernatural, I just have a problem with them being series regulars. If they were just recurring roles, I wouln't give it much thought.

I have said before i don't care for Bela but Ruby is cool i would love to see Ruby beat the crap out of Bela talk about a cat fight! and just for fun have Dean and Sam sit back watching the whole thing.
