^^^ I was never that keen on LD or Kate Winslett for that matter on Titanic.... I don't think either of them really totally suited the part!!! KW just didn't look like she was as upper class as her family upbringing in it suggested... and Leo ... well... he just looked far too clean for somebody who suggested lower class.. I dunno.... I really just didn't see either of them suited in those roles! That's not to say that neither of them are good at what they do... I just think that for that movie ... there may have been better actors/actresses to play those particular roles! Anyone else agree?
Sorry, BTW... if some words are not making sense... mmmmms like to eat cake over her computer and I have so far fished out a ton of crumbs from between the keys.... some keys are obviously still sticking!!! LOL!!!

Off to work now...
Will chat to you all again soon!!!

As far as LD goes, you have a point. I thought he looked a little on the clean and pristine side, so I suppose this affected how authentic he came across. Kate, on the other hand, I really liked. She has that old-time classic beauty which suited her role well. I think, given the general looks of most Hollywood actresses and the stereotypes they try to fill, she stands out in this regard. Therefore, I can't really think of anyone in particular who would have suited the role better than she did.

Your teacher really sounds like an awful person, helps. In my experience the only thing that helps dealing with teachers of this kind is if enough parents are complaining to her superiour/ the principal of the school - even the ones whose kids aren't being tested.
Your mum was great on this, wasn't she? I think that reaction might even have earned her some cleaning duties, don't you think?
yes,but she has much more bad characteristics than this cleaning one....i dunno,i fell out with her before moment so maybe im not too objective....and she is saying that and it sounds sooo reasonable, but i´m not sure if she would really say that when i would be on place as my friend...i think she would say as usual that is my fault...
although she admits that this teacher is bad,she still would tells me that i could study better or something...

Of course I agree with both of you, I can't nor do I want to imagine Chad in SPN, but before we slag off soap actors, let's pause a moment and remember where Jensen came from. Days of our Lives, anyone? So I'm hestiant to say that Chad couldn't positively suprise us as an actor if he was given a cool role to play with a great storyline.
i dunno, but still i think there is difference....Jensen wasnt too known, but one three hill knows everyone....and cinderella story and others his movie and shows...i would like to see Chad in some cool show,no just soapy, but in SPN wouldnt be space for him....there are two brothers and then few great, but not too known actors...i dunno what he would suppose to play there..

aaah smiley.......*hug*..happy to see you....i hope that everything is alright with you and your pc will be ok soon....you have enough to catch up...lol,but i dunno how you manage to be still top at top members-one with the most posts...lol...and on the other side you´re not on here...

Hey smiley! I hope you get your PC back soon. I have to admit I'm guilty of eating at my PC too and whenever my friend R. fixes something he makes a big deal out of only touching the keayboard carefully with the very tips of his index fingers. Wuss!

BTW smiley, are you able to order those mags or are you too busy at the moment? You could send me your bank details via pm while on the very nice mmmmms' computer.

I can absolutely relate. My mother does it, too. Expressing perfectly reasonable opinions and acting a totally different way when it comes to me. Also my mum is guilty off pissing me off to the point that I show her I'm pissed off and then all of a sudden she acts like nothing has happened and we are the best of friends.

Thx for your pm, helps, I'll read it in a minute.

IMO, people are probably more aware of Chad than they were aware of Dean in his soap days.
That's true.

Quote:
Also, both shows air on the same network.
I wasn't aware of that. Makes Kripke's (or whoever it was) comment all the more funny.

Quote:
For one, both SPN and OTH have similar target audiences, focusing on a certain demographic
Hm. I find it hard to believe that the average SPN viewer is also addicted to OTH. I did watch the first 3 seasons of OTH and it was ok and I will watch S4 & S5 some time. However I'm in no way addicted or intrigued by it. It's nice, light, non thought provoking entertainment, it has its purpose. I remember dimly 2 or 3 scenes where CMM did show some considerable acting talent, hence my opinion that he probably wouldn't totally suck in a more challenging role. (Mind you, I still don't want him anywhere near SPN)
SPN on the other hand is deep and meaningful, not to mention funny and actionpacked. So do you really think the fandom of these two shows is identical?

You are right with Leo taking a time out, of course.

Quote:
it's more of the association with his OTH character that leads me to believe such a decision would get in the way of achieving the most convincing portrayal on SPN.
You are right here, too. For example I couldn't accept Julie Benz, who played the awesome Darla on Buffy/Angel as that "holy" dying girl in the SPN ep "Faith". That role was as un-Darla as it can get. I don't know how I would feel about her if they gave her her own show playing a un-Darla like character, if I would be more accepting of her in her new role if I saw her in say, 22 episodes as "not Darla".

I finished cleaning the car, except the windows, which I'll do on the weekend. My mum is very very happy with me and even has me excused from lawn duties (she is mowing the lawn right now). But I'm still not happy, because I didn't want to clean the damn car in the first place. It's a car, not a kitchen, for heaven's sake, who cares if it's dirty?

Oh, how lady-like it sounds...LOL....I have to admit I am notorious for eating/drinking when at the PC...it only makes sense to do so...you know.

I think that, for the most part, naturally comes with the mother-daughter dynamic. I think it's easier for mothers to be more reasonable when they can separate their emotions from the situation...when it doesn't affect them directly.

She acts like you are the best of friends? How does this work, exactly?

No, this isn't exactly what I was trying to say. What I meant was there was a common denominator in regards to certain aspects of the target audience. There are some key differences, like content, which would divide this general target audience into smaller groups. SPN, of course, appeals to people who are looking for a little action, humor, meaning, and mystery. Then OTH appeals to those who like more drama-centered shows...more soap-like. However, despite this different interest, the general target audience is similar.

Ah, you poor thing...LOL. Hey, I would much rather clean my car than mow the lawn...that's for sure. Yea, you're right....but if you have a lot of people riding in your car, a mess can get in the way...and sometimes things, like CDs...can be broken or stepped on...so a somewhat clean car is always good...but still you are right...it's not too big of a deal

Ok, maybe that was exaggerated. But she acts like there were no issues between us.

I still don't get it. Do you mean age groups or consumer potential?

I don't actually have to mow the lawn, because my mother likes to do that, but I have to dispose the cut grass, carting it to a dumping site in a wheel barrow.
For the record: There is not much clutter in my car. There are some ice-scrapping devices and biros lying around, but nothing you'd have to be careful not to step on. All CDs are neatly (ok, chaotically, but still) stowed away in the glove compartment. It's only dusty and there are some leaves and little stones on the floor, but it's a car, after all.

Ach, I am making absolutely no sense...what in the hell is wrong with me? I have been so off my game for some time now...

I don't know. I suppose I could have been referring to age and gender. I know not all SPN fans are fans of OTH. However, I would think many of them are within the same age range and the majority are probably females. This may sound rather stereotypical, and I am by no means saying these are the only people watching these shows. I am simply saying there are certain formulaic elements which would typically appeal to a certain audience. And even if you take away the substance that each show has to offer, you still have the eye candy factor which plays into things. The male actors, especially, have been established as teen heart throbs. They have certain qualities which fit this stereotype and therefore pull in certain types of viewers, even if these viewers do not constitute the entire fan base.

That doesn't sound too bad at all. It's only natural that one would bring in dirt and other natural debris into their car. Hell, if you look at the floor of my Jeep in its present state, you would see a few pieces of grass here and there. Yes, I know, I need to get it out. I am working on it. I actually started taking stuff out today and throwing a few things away. But as far as the deep cleaning goes, I haven't gotten to that part yet. Plus, I still have a crap load of boxes in the trunk, so I really can't do too much until I get them out.

It's not you, it's me. I'm rather slow on the uptake on this one, but I still think it's an interesting discussion.

I'm sure the vast majority of OTH fans are female and probably teenagers. I'm not so sure that is true for SPN, I think it has an exceptionally high male following, but that is only an opinion and not based on facts. Somebody should do some studies on that.
You think most female fans watch OTH and SPN simply for the male eyecandy, which, granted, is abound in both shows - with OTH having a bunch of good looking boys and SPN basically having no one else but the 2 hot leads on screen all the time? So, if I understand you right, you think if Jensen really was to leave SPN (which he won't, I'm sure of that) it would make sense for the network to replace him with Chad, so SPN won't lose out on the eyecandy factor and the OTH fans would watch anything with Chad in it? It could work because I certainly will watch anything with either Jensen of Jared in it, even if I'm not that into horror movies and both guys are making one in the summer.
Wouldn't the OTH fans be totally upset if Chad left the show?

Is Kripke a genius or what? With his sarcastic comment he has not only his own fandom agonizing over SPN, but the OTH fans should also be in a huff about the prospect of Chad leaving. I wonder if he was aware of what would happen on the web with him carelessly making fun of the sitution. Either way, all the commotion about this makes my day, I'm greatly amused. Thank you EK, you rule!

I think we are going to get "Jensen leaving" threads in almost the quantity than the "Sara not dead" threads. http://forums.buddytv.com/supernatur...ernatural.html
Let's just hope it won't turn out to be true, like the Sara - rumour did.

Quote:
Ahh, she's in denial and doesn't want to acknowledge any potential conflicts between the two of you???
Sometimes she chooses to ignore it. Sometimes she seeks confrontation. And she expects me to go along with whatever mood she's in.

Quote:

See! No need to clean that car at all!

You make it sound like it wasn't in your power to remove the boxes. You are the one who's always telling me how great the feeling is when you accomplished a cleaning task, so get to it, girl!

I am a little show and preoccupied as well, so I must take at least part of the blame. I really don't think I am doing my opinion any justice by not coming across more clearly.

Like I said before, I wasn't speaking in specifics; I was referring to the basic foundation of the two shows. And I can agree SPN is a show which would have more appeal to males than OTH would, but this still doesn't take away from the appeal it has to young teenage girls.

I wasn't trying to say that both shows only have eye candy to offer; I was merely saying that the eye candy was an obligatory fixture in them, which is important when you are trying to market a show to a certain audience. I mean, if you look at the actors in both shows, you will see many of them frequenting the covers on some teenybopper magazine. Now, I seriously can't see one of the CSI or Law and Order actors gracing the cover of Tiger Beat....get my drift?

Yes, this has all been built up into something bigger than it really is. One comment spawned a flood of comments and speculations. However, I still think it's interesting to talk about...and like I said before...it's merely opinion and speculation.

I know I need to get those boxes out of the jeep, but I really don't think this is the best idea right now. I am still sorting through things, trying to decide what to keep and throw away. Plus, I already have a few boxes scattered here and there. If I bring more boxes in here, it will only add to the chaos that has spread through all the rooms, and it will more than likely be more difficult to navigate through it all and sort through all my stuff.
