Do that!

Sorry, if I offended anyone, I looked at it from a storytelling point of view. But I'll refrain from explaining myself further, I didn't think I would get such resentful reactions, which was probably pretty naive of me. Again, I'm sorry.

I don't resent anything, I just think you should be careful of what you say on a forum that has over a 100,000 members.....

Don't feel bad, Calena. I think it's just how there is such diversity among the people who visit this forum and it could easily escalate into something rather heated.

Did I attack anyone personally? Was I being impolite?
Richard Dawkins is totally right when he says it's curious that we all tread so lightly when it gets to religous feelings. Why are feelings about religion worthy of more respect than feelings about music, literature, ethnic groups, physical appearance ....? You can make a joke about a person being overweight, but not about a person being religous. And I didn't even make a joke that could be perceived as snotty.

Damn, this is exactly the kind of discussion I feel my English is not good enough to take part in, so you are right and we should just let it be.

We had heated discussions about wether Sara was dead or not, including name-calling from some people. But I get it and I have learned something today and won't ever go into that direction again on this board. Which doesn't mean I won't elaborate on it in an e-mail to you. (But tomorrow, today I'm to tired)

I think it's safe to just stick to the topics of the threads. People have different beliefs and you comparing a fictional character to Jesus could very easily be offensive to a lot of people.
There's really no reason discussion of religion should be brought into this.

That I don't respond to this shows I have learned my lesson.
As I said, message taken (though that post actually was on topic...), and let's not talk about it anymore.

I think that's precisely the point. Such a topic is very touchy for most people, and it's one of the quickest ways to get a nasty argument started. It is a shame that such things can't be discussed openly, with each person respecting the other's opinion. And the sad thing is your comments were related to the show. They were technically on topic, but because of the religious reference, it is not going to be well received. The conversation would go from a comparison to SPN to a full-on religious debate. Most people can't separate the two; they take things too personally.
I have to, of course, comment on the appearance-thing, especially the weight issue. I don't believe these to be at all relevant, because they don't necessarily deal with intellectual thought. Furthermore, I don't believe that society believes it is ok to point out someone being overweight...it's socially incorrect....and I am sure you already know what I think about the other end of the table....

I know, and you can take the credit for me thinking briefly about writing underweight or anorexic than overweight, but then the experiences I made my whole life prevailed. But I'm working on it!

But not as frowned upon as critical comments on religion, even if they aren't made jokingly/degradingly.
Did you see the movie Costantine? It was exactly the same scenario there, Costantine sacrificed himself for someone else, but he knew this would save him from hell. So, is this heroic or isn't it. I could have used Constatine as example, but more people know the story about Jesus than the movie Constantine. My intention was to start a discussion if it's actually heroic to make a sacrifice when you know for certain not only someone else but you too will benefit big time from it. Respectively, isn't it more heroic to make a sacrifice if you don't know the consequences for yourself or even know that they will be dire?

How do you think he's gonna get out of it?

I wrote a story where in it, Dean didn't get himself out of his deal, Sam did. Demons have to play by their word so in the story, Dean didn't lift a finger to try and figure his way out, Sam did everything and so that kept Dean's little agreement to not wiggle or worm his way out.

What do you guys think is gonna happen. No way are they gonna kill off Deano unless they get cancelled.
This is the topic of the thread. The comments weren't on topic. If you want to discuss what you brought up in your post, you should create a separate thread regarding it.
