| I honestly don't find anything spooky about old, supposedly haunted places.... They have not ever freaked me out at all... TBH, I have always, from a very early age found a certain type of true peace around these areas... Graveyards etc... are calm, serene places to be.... I don't find them spooky in the slightest, but I can understand why they might freak others out.... All I came back with, at this time was this weird yellow closed flowering plant clipping, that I found on my Grandmothers grave... I intertwinned it in along with my own bouquet flowers and then put my whole bouquet back on their graves the morning after my wedding. Weird experience... There was nothing of that plant on the grave next day.... spooky... When I am home in Ireland at Christmas... [this year, no doubt will be no exception,] I will take time out on Christmas Day, after church, to spend some time with my Grandparents down at their Graves, in local Cemetry. My Gran's birthday is Christmas Day and they have both passed for many years now. We, as a family tend to the graves, put fresh flowers on it, and give it and my Great Grandparents grave a clean and a tidy up... before we trek home for our family get together... funny enough, we tend to meet a good few of the neighbours down there too at that time doing much the same thing with their deceased relatives... ... arrangements tend to be made for neighbourly house visits over the rest of the festive period at these times.... It's all how you are brought up, I would think.... I was brought to many funerals as a kid, I saw my passed on relatives, neighbours & friends, of all ages..... I was allowed to say bye to them in my own way... I was allowed to grieve... Dead bodies etc, as a result don't tend to scare me like they do others... I think that's what freaks alot of people out about spooky places... the thought of who's there... I do however, really find very old black & white or even old sepia photos of ones ancestors incredibly spooky.... you know the ones.... the grandfather/father type figure is sitting down in the front with a face on him that could sour milk.... and the woman/Grandmother/Mother figure is standing at the back, with one hand resting on guys shoulder with the most scared look ever on her face..... Like life depended on that one picture.... almost like the camera is going to eat them all up as soon as it captures their image.... You can see the really worn out lines in their faces.... the dirt on their hands from tending the farm.... the holes in the age old cardigan and clothing they both wear... We have a huge photo reprint of my great grandparents doing a similiar pose hanging on our front sitting room wall at home in my parents house, and I swear there is not a moment where I don't truly feel their eyes follow me around the room.... That family portrait in the Provenance SPN ep really reminded me of that picture.... funny enough, my Great grandfather passed away quite suddenly due to illness, about three months after that photo was originally taken.... Back then, they would have been quite pioneer as not many of their neighbours would have ever had that opportunity to get these pics done, so for our family, the picture itself is quite unique... in fact, they were probably seen as quite brave to ever do it anyway, as many of their friends & neighbours would have refused it! So, Pantera, if anything..... Very old family portraits of scary ancestors scare me more then anything spooky that is about a house or graveyard...... although I reckon they were probably a good bunch of relatives, they weren't half scary in appearance!!! Btw..... I also really get spooked at those old pics of young kids in those really old christening gowns/robes.... the gowns that trail to the floor... along with those God awful Christening hats/bonnets they wear....so overdone with lace and frills.... * Smiley shudders...*!!! They're all just spooky.... straight out of a horror movie, akin to the Exorcist, they are.... really lot of Damien's festering under those gowns.... Seriously.... Am I the only one who finds these type of things spooky????

So then, my point is... as hard working as these two were... respected by all their neighbours & friends... They left behind the land to their future generations... to see them look out in the one photo we have of them, with such fear that they were genuinely fearful of their lives as this picture was taken is kind of funny but strange at the same time.... Kind of makes me wonder how they ever managed or even thought of ever getting this one photo done in the first place... I have never worked out, thru any research, why this was done... But I am thankful for the one memory... Every single visitor that ever has set foot in our home, has remarked on the look of them... It's downright scary.... and whilst I was also researching the maternal side of my Family Tree... I also came across quite scary looking poses there too.... They all looked like versions of Queen Victoria... wheither they were male or female.... Strange lot.... Scary... and downright spooky!!! I can't think of anything more spooky in life.... Pantera, sorry I have no spooky houses or Graveyard stories for you....... They'll all be lining up to haunt me day & night now after these last few remarks of mine!!!! LMAO!!!!

| Well, my grandad died when I was about 5 and i was convinced the house he lived and died in was haunted. One time i was staying there, i was looking in the bathroom mirror and i swear i saw his face over my shoulder. It scared the hell out of me! |
