Default Fun and/or interesting stuff

We probably already have one of these threads, if anyone finds it our resident mod can just unite them.

Those of you who follow SuperWiki on twitter (you really should, they post great links) will already know this:

And:

This is awesome. Scroll down, someone counted how often they use the names Dean and Sam/Sammy per ep.

I haven't watched a single ep of Torchwood in my life, but it's always sound advice to tell people "Go watch Supernatural"
I thought he gave it because dead characters keep coming back (for which he also could have said "go watch Prison Breaik ), but it turns out there's a entirely different reason for the recommendation:

Question: But it's a risky thing to kill off such a popular character.
DAVIES: Absolutely. There’s a risk that some people won’t come back to watch now that Ianto’s gone. I thank them for watching the show and I recommend they go watch Supernatural, because those boys are beautiful. And don’t tell me they’re brothers. [Laughs] Not in my mind.
Do any of you girls watch Torchwood? To say it with smiley, what is Torchwood about? Should I watch it?

Red face I like him.....

THanks for sharing!! Is he the writer of Torchwood?? I don't watch the show, but the writer seems to be reasonable
Hahaha, they're beautiful - don't tell me they're brothers.... not in my mind... Cookie, that's something for you, isn't it

Guys, am I the only one who is annoyed to the death by sneaker-selling troll?

BTW, do u follow Michael on Twitter? I've seen he posted pic of Dexter today - quite HQ!! I hope he's gonna be around when SPN guys come.... Please... We need to be updated....

I've never heard of the Torchwood guy before, but somehow this comment makes me think he's gay, along with the question if the death of that character was an attempt to de-gay the show. I could be totally wrong, though. Anyway, you all know how I don't like slash fic at all. But the interview made me think and slahs/fic for and by gay men is ok, I think. However why straight women are into slash I will never understand.

He is a nuisance. You could pm smiley and aks her to get rid of him.

Of course I follow him. Oh this guy was Dexter? He looked vaguely familiar. You watch Dexter, helps?
Yes, I want him to question the SPN troops and pics, please!

I don't know this guy, so who knows. I don't really care too much about slash, althought yes, it's interesting how in spn fandom everyone is writing gay slash fics instead of pairing 'em with girls. I guess, it's because girls weren't too popular ...
WHatever, I like his comment about Supernatural ^^

Yes, he is... But don't worry there's no way smiley wouldn't notice that

Yea, it was Dexter guy . I don't watch the show, but I know him. I know that the idea of teh show itself is cool, but never got into watching it. Maybe I should give it a try,tho ....

Hopefully!!! I was even thinking to comment on his Dexter pic and ask if he's gonna be ther and interview SPN guys... Hopefully he will ..

The first link had me laughing quite loudly whilst on my laptop, I thought my brothers trying to sleep in the next room might have screamed at me to shut up lol.

And wow, people seriously count words and phrases and things the characters do in TV shows, they must have a lot of time on their hands.

OK girls I think I will help you out with some information about Russell T. Davies and Torchwood.

Russell T. Davies is the head-writer creator of the new generation of the British sci-fi series Doctor Who. He brought the show back to our screens after many years left going dusty in the cupboard, with Christopher Ecclestone as the 9th Doctor, he only played the part for a year until the 10th Doctor came along who is now played by David Tennant, who you might have seen. Anyway, a character called Captain Jack Harkness pops up in Doctor Who every now and then and goes on his adventures. He became quite a popular character so Davies decided to create a spin-off show for Captain Jack called Torchwood.

Torchwood, is an organisation set-up by Queen Victoria to combat aliens and the unknown and protect the Earth from intergalatic threats etc. Captain Jack is the leader at one of the Torchwood bases, this particular one being in Cardiff, where he has a small band of people helping him to protect the earth from extra-terrestrial threats. It has a more grown-up them than Doctor Who (which is more for family viewing), it especially has swearing, quite graphic violence at times, hard to stomach situations and yes even gay kissing and sex too. I have watched all of Torchwood and quite enjoyed it. If you like Doctor Who you may like this for a more adult outlook on the same universe.

Davies is openly gay (many of his tv shows broach the subject), so it hasn't surprised me that he doesn't believe that the boys are brothers lol. I think that he suggested watching Supernatural as a compliment to our favourite show because if you have stopped watching Torchwood for any reason then Supernatural in his mind is a show worthy of your attention.

Here is a link to find out more about Torchwood if you want to know more:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/torchwood/

I hope that helps you guys.

GemMaeLee21, thank you for educating me on Torchwood.
It might be something I'm interested in, it sounds more appealing than Dr. Who.

Why on God's green earth would I ever enquire about anything that has the remotest thing to do with Dr Who??? I swear by now Mini Me has made me watch each entire ep about 50 times.... and OMG.... the day I see that fireplace on based in France yet again won't be a day too early!!!
Torchwood, I gather is more adult orientated then Dr. Who... Mini Me has shown little or no interest in it although he is familiar with some of the characters in it!!!

Btw... Is Sneaker selling Troll dead now? Between Mods, we got rid of a pile of sneaker selling spam between us!!! Hopes it helps!
Sorry for absenses on here of late, but regulars know the reason why... and also it's been a busy few weeks wrapping up end of school term.... kids were also starting to get that flu thing as well as we were finishing up term so for now, we're not even sure if we will be opened next September or not should flu bug start spreading worse in area... nevermind, God knows I could do with a few hours sleep in in mornings!!!

Czech girlies, please pm me links once again to hotels round Prague... need to sort that out this week... links are on some thread on here and as I am on slowest ever laptop til friday due to my computer being in shop getting it's service... just please pm me links for hotels, necessities like plug usages and money things etc... I already have acquired maps and info of both Prague and Vienna... as well as some money and of course tickets for plane... so all set to go here. Maybe, in light of current events, I will take opportunity to spend some quality time with Mini Me and stay offline for the whole week... I dunno yet... days are so long when you have just a ten year old for company.... Probably will feel like Groundhog Day reliving same long day over and over by the time I get over there...

Talking of shows one should watch .... again..... I caught up once again with that Tru Calling show.... remember watching it some years back when it was on TV middle of day when I worked part time.... but didn't remember much of the story or it's general gist til I started rewatching it again recently.... I got the boxset of both series plus Dexter S2 plus.... Band Of Brothers, that series that has the wonderful Richard Speight Jr in it... I did watch that as well some years back but thought I'd watch it all again ep by ep over the course of a few days over a weekend rather then like on TV, an ep a week over half a century!!!

Anyway.... back to Tru Calling.... well, that show surprised even me... I forgot how good a show it was for story telling, twists etc.... good to see at least half of Prison Break actors show up in it one after the other in random eps... ok, not half but a few.... and well.... one question I must pose that I demand an answer to.... Is there any show etc... ever made on TV that the most beautiful Jeffrey Dean Morgan didn't actually play a character who died at least once in it??? Seriously.... we are running out of shows here.... he popped up in Tru's as well.... and died a happy but sad death at the same time.... oh I dunno.... maybe one day he'll play a role that he actually survives til the very end in....

I was never a big Jason Priestly fan when he was in that school show with the numbers... 90 something something something.... I swear if I live til I am 200 and spawn out different variations of that numbers I still won't get that combination right... anyway, he was actually cracking in Tru Calling!!! Shame it got cancelled when it did really.... Got home from work this evening and just curled up in my bed watching a few eps of it... Jensen character came into it too.... hmmm.... so was Mr. Ackles originally down to play that character or someone else in the show? I have some vague recollection that he was thinking of doing that show at some stage and then pulled out... or something.... cause have to say... present nerd science lab Jensen character in it, to date hasn't really done much but pout a bit and flick the hair about .... I'm thinking he's due a nasty death at some stage although tbh, I don't really know if I would put much effort into bringing him back right now if all he continued doing was more science revision!!!

I'm bored right now... next three days I have 12 hour shifts straight thru... covering staff illnesses etc... last two days were long too... I want to sleep now but it's so early..... Mini Me is up with Granny in Scotland and I swear I am hearing every single bit of wood creak in this whole house in his absense... Bet my fridge doesn't know what has hit it either this week, only being opened on occasion... and not fully emptied by each days end...
