I really enjoyed this episode for a lot of reasons .First ,and foremost because it was a real return to the classic Supernatural episode where the relationship between the brothers is the main focus. This episode showed Sam and Dean at their wits end as they try every last ditch effort to free Dean from his demon deal. Jensen and Jared did a great job of showing their characters emotions not just with their words but with the expressions between them. You could just see their character's desperation in their faces. This episode really ratcheted up the tension as Dean's deadline is fast approaching.I also liked the hunter Rufus. The exchanges between Dean and Rufus brought some comic relief in this intense episode. I almost fell off my chair laughing when Dean responded to Rufus asking him if he "ever did Bela's ear and Dean replied I'll try anything once but that just sounds uncomfortable." That comment was so classic Dean! I liked the way they finally tied Bella into the myth arc wit

I liked the way they finally tied Bella into the myth arc with her having made her own demon deal. I especially liked it because her time had come due and so that is the last we will see of her!!! This is no knock against Lauren but the Bella character really irked the hell out of me, and I am thrilled to see her go. Doc Benton's character was totally creepy and the make up artists did a fantastic job with his totally gruesome appearance. This episode is indeed a classic Supernatural episode with only one exception and that of course is the missing classic rock.

I'm so glad Bela is finally gone and Dean & Sam are seeming like Dean & Sam again lately. Hopefully season 4 will be better than season 3.

this episode was really great...i dunno,i get quite desperate about whole Deanīs deal...iīm almost sure that they canīt save him...now we already know that itīs Lilith(iīm booby,i canīt believe that i forgot about her),but i think itīs really not good news for Dean...i remember her well and all of demons are apparently pretty scared by her,so iīm worry about brothers...moreover i hate children, when theyīre evil....iīm really scared about evil children(and clowns,lol)..she looked so evil....whatever i just think that itīs too bad that itīs Lilith who has contract...about episode it was sad again to see them both,Sammy and Dean try to save him, each of them their own way...it was so heart breaking when they stayed alone,separated....It seemed to me that Dean still waited that Sammy is gonna change his mind..How he stopped at the door, looked at Sam and just wait if he say something...it was so sad...Then what was interesting was man who Dean visited...He was kind of mystery for me...I would like to know more about him, because he apparently knew enough about whole Deanīs thing and about all stuff....And some things he told Dean made me feel really uncomfortable and sad,but i would like to know, who he actually is that he know something more then others...
Then the story about immortality and doctor...it was pretty awful...i had breakfast during this episode and it wasnt too convenient...moreover when Dean had breakfast, too, and Sam started to tell him some really disgusting things on purpose....He isnīt awesome brother at all,lol....So thatīs everything what i have in my mind for now...i need rethink few things....ooh and poor impala wasnt in this episode much....

I really love this episode. I can't wait to see the last episode of this season. I try my best to stay away from any spoil of 316 but spoil is everywhere.

My heart breaks for Sam, he didnt ask for any of it, Dean made the deal then decided he wanted to live ....
But having said that I dont want to see him go to hell he doesnt deserve it but Mr Kripke is evil so expect one cliffhangar?
As for this episode loved it ,spot on acting from the boys , and being shallow one very pretty Sam.

I loved this episode, although I have to say it all feels kind of rushed to me - but that's probably inevitable when there are going to be only 16 eps instead of 22.
Things I liked about this ep:
- Sam's willingness to do everything it takes to save Dean, even if it means letting the bad doc getting away with hurting and killing people. It's not heroic, but I totally get why Sam feels/acts this way. Also I was totally supportive of the idea of the boys having eternal life until I saw what it does to your looks.
- Funny elements ("Have you lost your appetite yet?" - worked for you too, helps, didn't it? "Did you do her ear?")
- Gross elements like poor Sammy being on the brink of getting his eyes cut out
- The Rufus - Dean dialouge and the dark prophecy that Rufus is what Dean would become if he survived
- I'm undecided on Bela. I like that Dean didn't shoot her, because Dean isn't a cold blooded murderer. I liked that Bela made a deal with the demon and now it was payday. I didn't like the hint at the abuse, because it forces me if not to like Bela, at least to be more understanding of her and I don't want to be, if I can help it.
- Dean being heroic :"I'd rather go to hell", than letting the good doctor get away
- The way they dealt with the doc, buried alive is always a strong image

Things I didn't like about this ep:
- No rock music: Come on, there were plenty of scences that practically screamed out for a classic rock tune playing in the background
- Too little Impala

I thought it was a good episode as well, which made it extremely annoying when the National Weather Broadcast Service kept interrupting the show to give stupid tornado warnings.....grrrrrr...... I think things started to speed up again and enough tension was built that when the episode ended the way it did (with a pretty good cliffhanger), you could tell the **** was going to hit the fan in the finale.

As far as Lilith being the one who holds his contract, I do agree that it is bad news. However, hypothetically speaking, if she's the one demons are most afraid of...the one who has caused such a deep divide, it could be good news for the brothers....well, sort of. Obviously, we already know this divide exists, with some who expect Sammy to lead them. Even though Sammy is the one they really want and need, if he were to choose to make a bargain with them, hypothetically speaking, he could perhaps get some help saving Dean...or at least buying him some more time. This, of course, is probably the last thing he wants to do, but we have seen him take more risks as the seasons have progressed.

You hate children??? Hey, have you seen Village of the Damned? It's a pretty old movie, but it's pretty good. If you want to see some creepy children, this film has it.

Ach, Calena...oh shallow Calena, don't you know it's what's on the inside that matters...LOL.

Yes, I thought it was interesting how he was considering using the doctor's help in order to save Dean. Again, we get to see the Dean who can't see things other than in black and white, and even though he could have been possibly saved, he would not agree to such under those circumstances.

Sam was probably thinking they could always kill the doc after he showed them how the formula worked. But we know that these things never work out as planned, so it's imo a good thing they didn't use the help of the good doctor.
I don't know if this would be strolling off to far in the sci-fi category, but I was wondering what the emphasis on "this is science, not black magic" meant. If Ash was still alive, maybe he could have figured out how it worked. Conclusion: Find another Ash.

I highly respect Dean for knowing he couldn't deal with having to hurt/kill people for spare parts. He is guilt ridden because of the girl who wasn't healed because of him in Faith (Julie Benz/Darla, I can't remember what they called her on SPN. BTW how did you feel about July Benz playing such a "holy" character? It was confusing for me, I so loved Darla and she did a great job of playing her) and because of his Dad's sacrifice. He feels he hasn't the right to live anyway, so even when he's said that he doesn't want to die, imo certainly didn't search for a way out of the deal for both of them as he would have if it was Sam who was hell-bound.

This is true: He probably was thinking they would use the doctor for their own agenda and then get rid of him when they no longer needed his help. What was interesting about all of this was how it so closely resembles the bargaining a criminal or some other nefarious character, who had previously had the upper hand, would try to do when they are in a position where they no longer have control. I mean, they have spent their time hunting all these supernatural beings....and mostly they have been cut and dry. Sure, there were occasions where doubt and ambiguity were present....but this situation was a little different. Despite his form, he still exhibited human-like mentality...if that makes any sense.
