'Supernatural' Season 4 to Lose a Cast Member

.jpg" />Supernatural is one of the few shows on television that revolves almost completely around two characters. This is excellent for fans of Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, as it guarantees the actors will get plenty of screen time in almost every episode of the series. However, because the show is so reliant on the chemistry between the leads, it can have a tough time introducing new characters to the mix. For every new character that is beloved by the fans, such as Ellen or Jo, there are those like Ruby (Katie Cassidy) and Bela that cause a major uproar.

TV Guide has recently announced that fans will be saying goodbye to one major character when Supernatural season 4 launches in the fall. Will the change have a negative affect on the show, or will it help make it better than ever?

Bela was a Mary Sue. Never a good thing in a show where she's not the lead. Plus, she sucked as a character.

I agree with your thoughts on Bela. She was ok but never really found a niche to make her important to the show.
Much as I'd like Dean to carry out his threat to kill her, I think poetic justice would be if she got killed by a demon, especially if she accidentally got between it and Dean.
I love that Eric does listen to the fans. I just hope he realises that not all of the fans hate the characters as much as the vocal ones. I'd love for an episode next season with Ellen and Jo to show how much Jo has matured and how Ellen is reacting with that (just a one-off episode).
I suspect Bella will have more people liking her once she goes! I thought she was quite a good adversary to the boys, but with budget cut-backs she was the obvious choice.

She showed up, antagonized the boys, and was never really fleshed out as a character.

Maybe that's because there's been very little opportunity to flesh out here character. The writer's strike has shortened this season, and perhaps we would have gotten a better look at Bela otherwise. And the fan backlash is nothing more than shades of Jo.

I'm disappointed that Bela won't be back next season. I saw much potential in her character and wish Kripke and the writers would learn to write their story and not put so much stock into the online fanbase. We are, after all, only a small percentage of the people who actually watch.

im soooo glad bela will not be returning next season. i absolutely hated her. i did try to give her a chance.. but she did too many things to sam and dean that i absolutely could not accept. now with ruby i actually like her. since shes a demon she fits in the series. bela didnt. so how come people dont like ruby? anyway.. im so completely happy bela will be gone! :]

I didn't like Bela either, but it doesn't mean that her role was supposed to be hated, and it worked. She was a pain in the a** for the Winchesters and she did it perfectly well done, now is over.
But please don't let go Ruby ! I like her a lot !!!!

I never really cared for Bela at all. I realize we were supposed to hate her as a character because she's always causing trouble for the guys but she was never a character that I loved to hate. I just couldn't stand her. I never cared about her history or why she did the things she did, it just didn't work for me. I won't be sad to see her go.

I have to say I take acception to you Don for referring to Bela as a "major character" ??? Confused! No she wasn't. She was never important and quite badly written. Lauren was just recurring not a star. That's J&J's title. Bela's absence will not impact the show at all just like Jo leaving didn't either. Sorry to break the news to ya.

Oh yeah, did you also refer to Jo as beloved" hahahaha! That's funny! She was as hated as Bela. Don't get the actress Alona & Jo confused. People like Alona and hated Jo. Jo isn't missed and thankfully Kripke got rid of her too.
