| A friend and I were recently having a fun discussion about television characters who need to die. Most of our picks, such as Claire Bennett (Hayden Panettiere) on Heroes, were based on the fact that a character had become annoying or outlived his/her usefulness on a series. However, a much better reason to kill off a major character is because it's the best way to serve the story. It doesn't always make the fans jump for joy, but oftentimes killing a beloved individual is the most gut-wrenching way to jump start new and exciting plotlines.Strangely enough, after I was done mentally whittling down the cast of Heroes, one other character who needs to bite the dust was left twirling in my mind: Supernatural's Dean Winchester. | I saw this article and my face started to get hot and red, but after I read this, I can actually see what they mean. Dean not dying in some way will be bad for the show. All of this hipe that he is going to die really has given the writers no choice but to kill him off. BUT, if they do kill him off, they will have to bring him back. They cannot be giving a fourth season, another chance, and then not bring him back. Duh. I think Dean will die and then come back like Ruby. I am not sure how they will do that, but I think it will the the best thing and really get people's attention. Either way, I cannot wait to see what happens!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

| I would love it if Dean went to hell and fought his way back. I would love Dean to gather intel that can be used to fight the demons and I would love this because it would be a Dean storyline all his own. I don't want Dean to be like Ruby though. I want Dean to come back as Dean have the reason he fought out of hell be because he is Dean Winchester. |

| Whatever happens (I think Dean will die somehow yet come back), I know Teh Kripkeh will tear my heart out again. He's a lot like Joss Whedon in that regard. Give us characters we love...then pummel the crap out of them and/or kill them. |

| As much as I love Dean and I DONT want him to die, I think that it would be bearable if he died. you know as long as he came back really really fast. But I wouldn't want him to come back different because DEAN IS PERFECT!!!!! There's nothing you could change about him!!!! |

| I agree with the whole article but as long as they show Dean in hell fighting to come back throughout the episodes he's dead. I can't see two episodes or how many there will be with just Sam and no Dean the show won't be as good without him. No offense but Sam doesn't really carry the show by himself and neither does Dean but Dean's character has a better edge to it that Sam. So if he does happen to die which at this points seem irreversible he needs to go back with a kick or a twist to his character and give Sam one too.. Because bringing them back as the same won't be as interesting. I have Faith in whatever Kripke writes but no having Dean on for a few episodes would make the show kinda boring. |

| No, Dean cannot and will not die. This has been all about Sam from the beginning. I believe Lilith holds Dean's contract now, and the deal is going to be that Dean will be released from it, but only if Sam agrees to lead the demon army at her side. Of course, this is going to cause a huge problem between Dean and Sam. Big brother would rather die than see little bro in league with their enemies, going darkside, like their father warned him way back in season 2. So will Sam go evil to save his brother, take his rightful place as leader of the demon army? Or will Dean, who raised Sam from babyhood, prevail? THAT is going to be the big question, not whether or not Dean will die! Love, Robin |

" Well no offense but I'd rather the story be about both brothers and not all about Sam because I'm not really interested in the story of Sam. I want the story to be about both and I'd rather the deal was about Dean himself and not about Sam. The deal is the only storlyine Dean has, and now you want to give that to Sam too? I want Dean to get out of hell because he is Dean Winchester, not because he is Sam's brother. Sam has enough storylines, leave this on Dean's. |

| I believe that killing Dean is the only answer that Eric has. But it will be almost unbearable to think of Dean as dead. It will make for a very long off season but the ratings with the first show of the fourth season should be off the charts. I guess I will just have to be satisfied with seeing Jensen in Dallas in June. |
