Default 4.22 Lucifer Rising Discussion Thread

Just a few long long hours away from the finale of Supernatural now. I think it's bittersweet, I can't wait to see what happens ,but at the same time I don't want it to be over for the season.

The finale airs, yet the thread is still empty.

First, I'd like to announce that I am considering a profession as a psychic. If any of you girls are in need of knowing of all things to come, please feel free to ask. I will be more than happy to offer my services, to y'all, for free. Just don't tell anyone because I don't want everyone to start bugging me, thinking they will get a free reading.

I feel good; I feel bad. I really loved the finale, which I have to say before anything else. I wasn't entirely surprised by everything that happened, though. Ruby was manipulating Sam, trying to bend him to her will, the entire time. I pretty much knew she was up to no good and knew she was just using him for her own agenda. I got that one down. The angels haven't been lying to Sam and Dean; they've just been withholding very crucial information, which is something I've said before. Casty is one of the good guys and wants to help. Again, I can't count how many times I've sided with the guy. Furthermore, as predicted, it runs out the thing he wanted to tell Dean pertained to Sam. Essentially, it was implied Casty wanted to warn Dean about Sam. This, of course, leads to the really big thing: Sam was in fact the one who was going to bring on the end and break the last seal. Killing Lilith was the final seal, and the entire season Sam has aiming for this goal, not realizing that he was getting closer to causing the thing he wanted to prevent. Again, this was something I had already expected to happen. I'm assuming Casty was going to tell Dean that the angels wanted all the seals to be broken and that Sam was going to be the one to break the last seal. Oh, and how dare I forget that Dean was right and Sam was wrong. Oh yea, and then there's that moment, as I stated a few days ago, where Sam realizes how wrong he was. Now I'm just waiting for the next season to start, with the opening being Dean and Sam sitting in a parking lot, leaning on the back of the Impala, as Sam feels a tremendous amount of guilt over what he has done.

Oh crap, and I forgot something else. It was pretty much confirmed in this episode that Sam has been hurting innocent people and may have even killed a few. I know there were some people who claimed he had not harmed innocent people and certainly hadn't killed them, but I think this episode pretty much confirms that Sam has done a lot of bad things, things which that may have not even been shown in the episodes.

There were a few things in the episode I pretty much saw coming, although I have to admit I was surprised by a few things. I didn't expect them to trap Dean and prevent him from seeing Sam. I also didn't suspect they had bigger plans for him, like killing Lucifer after they allowed all the seals to be broken. Furthermore, I was surprised, really surprised, by the sudden and apparent guilt and doubt Sam was experiencing. We've seen a pretty dark, and at time ruthless, Sam during this season, so it was nice to see him questioning everything he had been doing. It still didn't change the outcome, though. He accomplished his goal of killing Lilith and the final seal was broken. I also didn't expect Ruby to be the one to go. I loved how he grabbed a hold of her so she could be killed. Overall, it was a great and classic SPN finale. I really liked it, and I already can't wait for the next season.

Great, they gave us a happy ending! The boys are working together again!

Ok, candy, you earned it: Yes you have been right about everything, and I bow down to your superior insights.

They started with Wayward Son! Sam having doubts was great, see, he is not all evil and powerdrunk. It's so sad how he had been played the entire season - and really season 3 too, when you think about it.

I will forever love Kripke for portraying (most of) the angels as just having their own agenda, not caring about humans, and god has left the building! How cool is that!

I wonder whether the SPN writers have a contest between them who can get in the most pop cult references per ep. You who never watched Star Trek and Star Wars (I'm looking at you smiley and helps!), it's such a pity you don't get the references. And having both, Trek and SW in one ep, that is simply awesome.

It was so mean to alter Dean's voice message. I was sooooooo mad!

What will happen next? Lucifer will rise, and when he's done rising, Dean will kill him on the spot, right then and there? Wouldn't that be fun? Interesting that Lucifer rises in a ray of bright light, that looks very much like angel light. Yes, I know, he once was an angel, but he at the very best is a fallen angel, do those still command the bright light?

Cas in the last minute came around. Cudos for that, although it all could have prevented if he had stood up sooner.

Is Azazel literally Lucifer's son, or did he use "Father" like people use it when they mean god? If he really is his son than the Winchesters killed Lucifer's grandchildren back in S1. Cool, isn't it?

So, what happens in S5? They attempt to send Luci back under? If I was them I'd be so pissed off at the angels I wouldn't even feel like helping them.

Yeah, well, ok, they can keep each other company while feeling guilty for their respective deeds, because you know, Dean is still the one who started it. Unknowingly, unwillingly, but that Sam also killed Lillith without knowing the real deal. Sam actually thought he was doing something good, as opposed to Dean who surely knew it couldn't be a good thing to torture souls. So yes, killing innocent people is bad, bad, bad, but Sam it's unfair only ever blaming Sam for everything.

Oh, and I love Bobby, and I want to marry him. He so is the voice of reason.

Conclusion: the ep was brilliant, although there was far less action than I had anticipated.

Oh no, we're getting in to that debate again.

Yes, Dean did know what he was doing was wrong--how couldn't he.
But Sam knew as well. At the very least, he had no problem killing innocent people in order to further his own agenda. Additionally, unlike Sam, Dean was away from everyone and everything he loved. It isn't like they get cell reception in hell and Sam was constantly calling Dean, telling him to hang in there. Dean was completely alone, with not many options. He either continued to hold out while being tortured, or he finally gave in so the torturing would cease. Sam could have gone to Dean at any time. Or, he could have gone to the more reasonable and wise Bobby--I'm sure he would have been helpful.

I can say I am really glad Bobby didn't die? I was sort of afraid it would happen, but thankfully he is okay. SPN just isn't the same without Bobby--no one should ever even consider killing this character.

It was so sad how Sam tried to use his powers on Ruby and nothing happened. He was all out of the juice and really couldn't do crap. Dean essentially came in and saved the day.

That was hard to watch.

Not really. Because Lucifer rises, doesn't he? He should have burst through that door sooner, sigh. But at least he killed Ruby. It seems that we will get to see a corporeal Luci. In 3 month. That sucks.
And may I just say that I don't get why Grey's gets JDM and a 2 hour finale, and 24 eps, when SPN would be so much more deserving of all this!

That's true. I still love Sam, though. I also really love Dean. He had some great lines in this ep. Hop over on that fence, smiley!

I agree. I really want a 2 hour special of SPN; I think it's as deserving as most shows, if not more.
