Jared Padalecki and Merilynn Gann, SupernaturalChristmas comes early for Supernatural fans as the show offers its final episode of 2007.  Thankfully, unlike some other shows, this won't be the end, because Supernatural still has three more episodes to come in January before running out due to the writers' strike.  So grab a cup of egg nog and your favorite Burl Ives CD, and let's have "A Very Supernatural Christmas."

A man dressed as Santa Claus rings a bell and a little kid comes to the stairs to witness the magic.  There's a clattering on the roof, and the kid thinks it's the reindeer.  When Santa goes to inspect the fireplace, something pulls him up and we hear crunching noises, then the Santa hat falls down, covered in blood.

Much more like the old Supernatural - but still too bright!

Jeepers, that was gross. Angelic faced children watching Santa drag daddy away in a bag, and....fingernails.

Aside from the fudging details, the new writer sure "gets" Sam and Dean doesn't he? All hail Jeremy Carver. I really thought Sam was going to utter the verboten "L" word to Dean at the end. What a tease. Ozzie and Harriet were a hoot.

I so thought he was too! Or at least a hug.

The episode rocked. I was actually completely creeped out by the Anti-Clause guy. He was so freaking scary. Yikes. I don't get freaked by Supernatural that often. And the nail thing gah! I nearly jumped and had to turn away. Poor Sammy, MAN that must have fudging hurt!

I agree, best episode this season. The only way it could have been better was if JDM was in it.

Yeah, I agree that if he was in it, it would have made it a fudging good episode. I thought the flashbacks were sweet. Oh and when they almost took deans tooth, I screamed. Thank god for that doorbell.

I have to take issue with the claim that "Dean, dumb as always..." Dean is NOT DUMB, and I am so tired of people making that mistake. He had no childhood to speak of, that is why he didn't know who Mary Poppins was. But thank you for writing the article.

I don't think Mary Poppins and Dick Van Dyke is inherently children's knowledge. If Dean didn't know the names of the Ninja Turtles, that I could chalk up to not having a childhood. Granted I've only seen a handful of episodes, but every one includes some scene in which Sam totally schools his older brother on some piece of knowledge. I think it's less a childhood issue and more a "street smarts" vs "book smarts" kind of thing.

Did anyone think about the words of the Christmas carol playing over the last scene? "Through the years we all will be together, if the fates allow, hang a shining star upon the highest bough, and have yourself a merry little Christmas now." I was sobbing like a baby throughout Dean and Sam's little Christmas celebration, because apparently, Sam no longer believes he's going to be able to save Dean, and this is their last Christmas together. The fates will not allow them anymore Christmases together--and that sucks. Sob! Perfect episode from start to finish!
