I was at Comic Con and heard what Kripke had to say about the new characters, so I was willing to give them a chance. However, last week's episode blew that chance. Ruby is a Mary Sue - a badly written Mary Sue. And from the script slides I've seen of upcoming eps she doesn't get any better. Plus Katie Cassidy cannot act her way out of a paper bag with directions. Now, I am holding out hope for Bela. I see potential in that character. As far as I am concerned, Kripke and crew have let us down so far this season.

No, she's anything but a Mary Sue. Spoilers. Read spoilers. There's a reason for the knife and the supposed skills.

I barely noticed Ruby in last week's episode, but I did not like the episode. The tone of the show seemed changed, and Dean was unrecognizable as Dean. I especially did not like all the other hunters hanging around. The deadly sins were cheesy, and even the final scene between Dean and Sam was not fun to watch, because it seemed like the chemistry between the two was missing.

I'm just hoping this this week's episode will be better. I actually don't think there is any way the new characters can bring anything to the show that I'd like to see, but still...I'm just hoping for this week's episode to be much better than last week.

I didn't know how to edit my comment so...

I'm thoroughly spoiled. I've read all the spoilers and the sides, and none of them sound good to me. I hate the way the storylines with both Ruby and Bela are going. Reading spoilers isn't the magical fix to get people to like stuff. My only hope is that it's not as bad as it sounds to me, but I don't know how it could get any worse than what I've already read--or even seen in a recently-released promo pic. Knowing the context doesn't make it better.

I actually think the spoilers do make Ruby seem like a MarySue, but I really have little interest in her character anyway. She didn't really bug me in last week's episode, because I barely noticed her--mostly because I was so bored with the episode that I forgot to pay attention at that part.

I don't care if Ruby and Bela are love interests or not; I just prefer the show to be about Sam and Dean--and not in the way we saw in TMS.

I also want to second what Commenter #8 said. That's

If Dawn Ostroff axes Supernatural, it's because she destroyed it with her demand to put female leads in.

If the girls become part of the mythology that will ruin everything we have left of what Supernatural once was.

Two brothers, on the road, hunting. It was a dark show, a lonely show and an angsty show with great special effects and wonderful snarky humor.

I don't want to hear about the girls' backgrounds, the girls' angst or the girls' mythology. I don't care! Give us episodes about the Winchester brothers! If there's nothing left to say about Sam and Dean then why are they even filming a third season?

I'm not against other characters kicking ass. I'm against the same other characters, other than Sam and Dean, kicking ass. Buffy and Angel were ensemble shows from the beginning. This show was not. Adding two new regular characters to a show like this and those other shows are not comparable. This show's on the road nature does not lend itself well to throwing in two new characters that we're going to see as often as we're going to see these two. I'm not against new characters but they have to worked in and in balance with the format of the show as I know it. Change the format. Change the feel of the show. Change the feel of the show and I'm going to be less inclined to watch. There are ways to add other characters to lessen Sam and Dean's work. Forcing the same two new characters into every episode is not the way (meaning at least one girl in every episode).

Oh, and I've read the spoilers and sides up to episode 9. She's a Mary Sue.

Ok, I shouldn't post when I first wake up. It would be Jared and Jensen's work load that can be lessened. lol. But I guess it would end up lessening Sam and Dean's too. lol.

I'm very much hoping that the part of the episode that's about changelings will be good, at least! If the Ruby stuff sucks, I can just pretend it didn't happen (if it was as shoehorned in as your source says). I'm just interested in Dean and Sam, so as long as what they do is interesting, I'll be happy.

Of course, Sam's gonna be heavily involved with Ruby, but I'm more of a Dean fan, so I'll take that hit.
