Question How Did Dean Know?!

Speaking of Jess . . .

How the hell did Dean know to save Sammy that night? Why did he turn back? Has anyone ever figured that out? In the version of the pilot that aired, we get NOTHIN'. Sammy goes home, Jess fries, Dean bursts in outta nowhere. On the DVD, we get the deleted scene of Dean looking at his watch. . . OH! I JUST FU**I'N FIGURED IT OUT! DUH! I'M SO SLOW! It was the anniversary of Mary's death! It must've hit him as he was driving away, he checked his watch and saw it was close to the time she died and got a feeling? But why would he get that feeling? Or maybe he just wanted to talk about it? Or has Dean known something about Sammy all along?! This whole damned time?! Have he and John both known something all along?! Am I the last one to figure this out?! Help!

I have other unanswered Supernatural questions, from the important to the silly that I intend to post someday.

Contacts should make it easier to see things, but mine make it super hard to see up close. Ow, my eyes. That was random. I'm so lonely and bored here at the pet-sitting family's house! There needs to be a BTV Supernatural chat room and either some Americans on it or night-owl foreigners. No, not helps, because she donates all of her night-owl time to twitter.

^^^ EC.... You babble on worse then me.... I was pretty much the Queen of it on here til you came along!!!! You stole my crown!!!! ROFL.....

Hope the contacts are doing better now... although as I am up at a God unearthly time of the night, at 8.30am.... I'm guessing you are still in bed.... Coffee sadly is just not shifting this stupid headache I have going on today... must sort out my attic... will be up there all day.... It's all dusty and full of spiders and creepy crawlies and I'm by myself ... just me against them all...

Ok back on topic.... good question... that did cross my mind at one stage but I then just clocked it down totally to 'brotherly intuition' I doubt he knew something all along or he would have made note of it sooner... surely.... or as he was aware that Jess was around Sam... the day would come ... I dunno, maybe he did but forgot.... he is a human after all... more specifically a man.... even if you tattoo your birthdate to their very own foreheads and have someone follow them 24/7 in the run up screaming reminders in their very own ears, and still they 'forget'.... they all do it.... it's like an inbuilt function only available to men...

A personal example of this?.... Ummm... I thought I'd be clever.... and would kill two birds with the one stone... by getting married on the actual day of my birthday... you know... ultimate sacrifice... a lifetime of only ever getting one lot of pressies for both occasions... but no matter, as that year 1996, it was actually on a fri 13th so as half our guests were super superstitious and were actually talking in groups about a total boycott of the church amongst other things... we put it back, last minute til next day....ok then... all went without a hitch... A year later... first anniversary was coming up... 11am in Wales, UK Passport Office, both wide awake since about 7am... not one solitary word of a happy birthday at all came til the girl at the passport desk actually pointed it out to my 'other half' at the time as she read my Date Of Birth out on the forms... ... Casually but yet so forcefully, I also then slipped in... 'don't forget what special day we have coming up tomorrow'... and his reply was.... 'ahhh yeah... the footie, I've been waiting for that game all week!!!'....
Yes indeed... it's inbuilt in them all... regardless of who they are... Dean is no exception to this rule.... sadly....

You know... One of them may surprise me at some stage from today til my dying day.... remember just a single one of these little dates... but I dunno... it asks alot, I think.... I'm going to clock it down to one of life's unsolvable mysteries....yep... even with the most amazing of gadgetry on various phones and cell phones etc.... you still always have to nudge them all in the general direction of a card shop and towards the phone to dial Interflora.... Oh It's a good job... I still love a challenge and haven't fully given up on them all yet....

I can't help thinking there's so much more to Jess then what we know already.... she did look funny being pinned that way to the ceiling.... hair all floaty out and leg cocked up that way... weird... I dunno... If I were stuck to a ceiling, pinned down... dripping blood and so on, the least I would think about doing would be to tie back my hair and pull my nightie down a bit....

Yes, she looked odd indeed. And if Supernatural has taught me anything, it's don't wear pretty white nighties!

And why were the girls' mid-sections sliced? They were set on fire; they were just humans, weren't they?! Was the slicing symbolic of something? Or did Azazel just have some kink?

Your birthday story made me sad, smiley. The footie. Ouch.

I think Dean did realize it was the anniversary of their mom's death. It's interesting as to why that made him check his watch and turn around, though. Why should that anniversary be any different than the others? Did the writers really just mess up there? Have him go back with no explanation, just so he could save Sammy? That would be incredibly odd! How awesome if there was something all along that Dean knew that they've been saving for the right time! Pretty risky, though, if so, seeing as how, every year, they've never been sure there would be a next season. I just don't like things like that. Things on a show with no explanation for no good reason. The guy had left. Sammy was safely back home. He was driving away. He checks his watch, and turns back . . . just in time to rescue Sammy from the same death their mom just so happened to have suffered 20 some-odd years earlier to the day. That can't be a coincidence.

Really? You think Jensen looks so different now from then? His voice is deeper, that's for sure.

I don't know if I've stolen your rambling crown. I've at least become the princess. I can ramble like crazy, yes. I have a lot of time on my hands; think too much.

ROFL... Hey don't feel sorry for me honey and certainly don't feel sad... cause after a few more years of it, I kicked him out for good and kept the house!!! .... Next man WILL not forget it once!!!
I wouldn't mind but it wasn't even a good match....

I agree... although it has to be said, it may have been a bit more traumatic for the kid about the land to see Jesses Smurf cut in half on her jammies.... at least the nightie was plain and inoffensive...

You're coming close to it though....
