smiley I am truly impressed with all your language skills. Maybe you can teach me some Gaelic sometime as I cannot get my head around that one.

I can read french, dutch, spanish and portuguese along with some slavic languages as I am half croatian myself, though my dad never made an effort to teach me a second language growing up, for which I am now paying the price not being able to speak to my family over there, but somehow I can understand it...weird I guess.

I worked with a polish girl for a bit and we became friends and turns out even though the words are all spelled horribly cryptic to me, it is actually closer to croatian than for example czech. Helps will probabaly agree there.

I was in love with a cute portuguese guy. What is it about them smiley? He was so adorable...aaahhhh...hmmm.....

BTW... this same german teacher used to actually fall asleep half way thru her classes on a regular basis... she was amazing... don't quite know how she did it... but she always woke up and immediately, split second later... began spinning her pencil/pen around all her fingers again.... truly amazing!!! I swear I truly don't know how she used to manage that!!!
that is very funny and unbelieveable at the same time..people can do the craziest things where you least expect it. She could be a character in a funny sitcom or on the Simpsons by the sounds of it

Does anyone else hate bankholidays? I am so bored it's not funny - although the weather is lovely everyone will be in the same location at the same time on bank hols and I just don't like crowds when I'm alone

t's really funny cause I tend to always write in block capitals when I do this thinking in Irish first, then transleting back into english!.... funniest too for those around me is when I start talking in irish after a few drinks down the pub.... I swear they are all answering me back in it as well.... mmmmms has some experience with that one!!!!
It never occured to me that english isn't your first language smiley. How odd but makes sense. I know what you mean with translating sentences back and forth though I must say that I have stopped this now more and more and seem to think equally in both languages. Eg. when driving I always curse in english, no matter what country i am in

Gaelic is a very difficult language to learn... it's even worse then welsh! We Irish know far more swear words in the language then we do in english... I swear when I am most cross, ... I can just switch languages.... and just vent!!! That way I harm no one.... and if I do it with a smiley face... even better!!!!

My father actually studied four or five languages when at school... english, Irish, Greek and ..... seriously you'll laugh... latin!!! Oh I swear.... he knows tons of the stuff.... He used to take us to latin mass in catholic church when we were kids.... it's really funny looking back!!! My mum just knows english.... she doesn't know Irish at all so we do both in my house... in fact I probably speak english at home 98% of time now... I only speak Irish when I am having a full on row with my dad about my mum!!!

Not been to Croatia yet... Liquid_snake, another Forum user is from Croatia... you mainly find him around the forum game/watercooler sections either slating my obsession with all things Man Utd... or Whistler!!! He undoes all my good work in the PBEG ... I go in there and he has taken another 50 points off Whistler each time... bad boy!!!!

Sincerely, I have no complaints at all... nice bunch of people the portuguese... he still lives nearby and we get on as good friends now!!! I'll have to pm you with more details about this....

Well in a way, it actually is... sort of! I will always claim Irish [gaeilge] as my first language, but as I speak english at home alot... I suppose I speak equally in both!

In Ireland, years ago, you needed to have a really good level of Irish to get any job or to be taken seriously. My father speaks it fluently, even though he no longer needs it to get by.... as Irish is only spoken in small pockets of the country anyway. My mother, was one of a large bunch of children who's father believed that the girls were just born to become housewives and mothers... they were to have no other function in life.... so he pulled her out of school early and turned her into the perfect little housewife material.... He also believed that she didn't need Irish for that kind of life, so hence why she only knows english [Bearla]! For the record though... my parents are still very much together after nearly 40 years together... and yes... she is still the perfect little housewife but they are happy!!!
My father had the good sense to break that tradition... he worked us hard in school.... made us independant... I suppose it's from him I get my drive and my love of all things different and foreign!!!

BTW... It helps to know how to swear in another language when you work with kids all day long.... as patient as I am at times... they really do drive me totally insane!!! It takes me a full day to drop the Mary Poppins sugary sweet accent after a full week with them all!!! Sometimes, I even make them go a full hour or two not saying a word but rather doing a load of Makaton and Sign Language gestures instead....but that's normally on a day when my head is pounding!!! The kids love to have a go at the sign language!!! Good to teach them young, I think!!!

Um.... what was the topic of this thread again?.... mmmmm..... oh yeah... Jensen and his singing.... awesome ... totally awesome!!!

BTW, Nana, I am seriously thinking of going to that Jason Manns gig here in Bristol, next week... check out the guy... see if he's as good live! I like live gigs! I would rather hand my money over to someone like him who seems to make the effort rather then someone with a load of entourage and about 50 million bad albums to their name!!! Anyway, the Portcullis is only about five miles from here so I might just take myself off there for the night.... that's if I am not already gone over to see my brother in Dublin!!! I kind of want to be gone already there.... but I am not really going to be any use for now... and he will be in much better form on 23rd when we are next over!!!

After having successfully gotten "Crazy Love" out of my head I caught myself humming it while walking my dog today! Damn you, Jensen! I think I might have to put "Can't fight this feeling" on repeat to get Crazy Love out of my mind!

Do you girls think Jensen will sing it at Jared's wedding? Or will Jared make him swear on his gummi snacks to NOT sing it?

Argh, my mum's driving me crazy right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"swear on his gummi snacks"--ahahahaaaaaaaa...what a fabulous thought! I cannot stop laughing now, damn you Calena

Have you seen the CW spot where Jensen Twizzlers Jared and Jared says "don't Twizzler me?" - he is rubbing of with the gummi....snacks that is!

As much as I love your version, Jensen...... CALENA..... if you are going to go about humming the song or having a version of it playing in your head... please let it be Van Morrisons!!! Aaron Neville also does a good version of it.... but Van's is by far the very best!!! All others pale into comparison!!! Sorry Jensen fans.... you can salt and burn me after you hear this clip....

http://www.absolutelyrics.com/lyrics...on/crazy_love/

I swear I am crying rivers.....
Here's to Van Morrison and the next 40 years... !!!

And just to balance up the versions....
Here's some Aaron and Robbie!!!
I still prefer Van's version... although the background while this song is playing is kind of cool!!! BTW... AJ prefers this one!!!

Ok... Smiley is back ... hours later....

Found an interesting link about some of the music of Jason Manns you guys might be interested in....
Have to admit this guy's sound is really good! It's really easy on the ear... He sounds quite good acoustically too!!!

http://www.myspace.com/mannsmusic

I'm going to have to drag mmmmms along to the 'Cullis on the 16th... to see him live!!! I guess he is worth a look!!!
Nana... if you can make it down this way ... come stay with Smiley for the weekend.... we can go out... go to a good pub with some great music!!! We can even taxi it there.... make a right night of it!!!

Sorted... Now all that's left is to find mmmmms a babysitter!!! Smiley can manage that one!!!

Talk to you all tomorrow.... These songs are quite catchy.... I'm already singing along with them!!!

Smiley made it onto myspace Woop Woop! Did you know we buckets have one too? And did you know Jim B has one and he actually emailed me back?? I am so in love with the man right now and have opened up a thread for poor neglected Booby Singer!

I am so glad you like Jason Manns! I think he has great voice too, might have to be nice and buy a CD off him at the con!

well, if you are surely sure about this we might have to work something out. Let me get the Con over with and assess my non existent finances and then if you still have that couch for me to crash on it would sound like a real cool thing to do

ps. I make a great designated driver asI usually don't drink but should we get a taxi I might have a GinTonic

Stumbled onto myspace ... more like!!! I stumble onto most things in life.... never just go out looking... but rather just amble along at a fairly steady pace and come across things along the way... BTW.. No I didn't know that about Jim B!!! May check it out soon! Blog is looking great BTW... I know I was meant to do a bit... I started and then just went way-hayed!!!

I do actually! He has got a really good sound!!! I am very particular about music... I will always dole out respect to anyone who makes the effort... I love music stripped down to it's basics too!!! BTW... I tend to really hate most cover versions... as sometimes the original can't be beaten.... but honestly... with Crazy Love, it's a damn good version!!! Respect to the man for that!!! I have also met Van Morrison, the songs writer a couple of times down thru the years at various gigs over in Ireland etc.... He probably wouldn't be that p****d with this effort! He's very particular about certain covers of some of his songs - not all of them impress him!!!

Assess finances... if CD's are there, pick up one for me too... I prefer hard copies of songs rather then downloaded!!!

Hell Girlie... we are both in the same boat!!! I'll just starve/stale bread & water it for the next week after!!! No problem... so what if I collapse with total malnourishment the following week.... I'll have had a good night out for my troubles!!!

After my brother booked my flights for 23rd... I put money aside for a night or two out on the town with him and his Mrs... but now, as he is unwell.... we'll be staying in for the whole time there. I'll be on babysitting duties while he treks it back & forth to the hospital! He's got two beautiful kids... I'm really excited about seeing them!

My mum wants me to go down to the family home in the west on saturday for a pub night out for my sister & her partners going away, they are taking a year out to go travelling the world!!! These nights normally go on all night... the pub landlord operates a 'last one out, closes the door' system where when tired, he goes in to his home, leaves his keys hanging over the bar... and leaves a few manning the bar!!! In all the years he has done this, no one has ever cheated him out of any drink! They tend to settle up with him next day!!!

We are having an open session night that night too... it usually starts off with three maybe four instruments... and can at times... end up with anything up to ten!!! Singers just come and go too... each tends to take a turn! My sisters other half usually runs the night! I have great fun cause I have it down to a tee.... I tend to go up, do a song or two... and then sort of smile and say hello down to the direction of some of the older farmers [my dad's friends] who prop up the bar... and they tend to out of respect to my dad... tend to get it a round or two of drinks for me and who ever I'm with [usually one or two of their offspring!!! See... I have brains... it works great for me!!!!

I'm a bit torn, TBH, I want to see and spend some time with her before she goes off travelling, but on this occasion, my brother at the other end of the country trumps her needs!!!

Quote:

Don't be silly girl... we are cabbing it for the night.... you don't want to be lugging a car about if I find you a really nice Bristol bloke.... [that's a joke, BTW.... You'll see what I mean if and when you get down here]
BTW... the gig starts at 7.30pm... shocking early I know... I don't know what you germans are like but we Irish don't usually hit the pubs til about 10pm - even that's way too early in my book!!!

you should get your own myspace..so a yourspace really..they are fun..sometimes...anyways you aren't even reading my blog, are you? come on, be honest smiley

I am still trying to figure out who Van Morrison is???

I am exactly the same! I love the CD's on my shelf, but I ran out of shelf space and now they are stashed away in a nice brown paper shopping bag from FatFace...sigh

I'll get you a CD, no problemo, senorita

I also agree with you on the subject of music and bands or musician who put a great effort into what they do. Back home I know quite a lot of musicians and my best friend organises some wild Rock Club parties sometimes with strippers (female) which is just so much stereotypical fun, Dean would LOVE it! I could get my friend to cook up some Purple Nurples and Dean would never leave....muahahahahahahaha

I am impressed you sing smiley, no one has even made me sing karaoke in public, though i sing when alone or in the car or when i play the guitar and when i was in my teens i had those romantic notions of being a musician with nothing but a guitar on my back (quoting Bon Jovi there)...where have all these dreams gone....sigh

I have just listenend to the VM version I still stand by my original opinion - I'm not into the song all that much, the appeal for me was Jensen's singing. Sorry!
