I like Ruby a lot. Her character really interests me and as for her acting, I think she is pretty good and given some time she will get better. I thought there were things about Jared Padaleki's acting at the beginning of Supernatural that were a little less than stellar, but I think he has grown so much into the part that him and Jensen are right on par with each other now. Give Katie a little time to grow and think there could be something really cool here.

It all depends on how prudish or permissive the network is. Katie got arrested for underage drinking in Tucson last night. She wasn't driving, and personally I think it's ridiculous that a 20 year can go to war but can't have wine in a restaurant, but she lied to the police at first and told them she was Taylor Cole, (Sarah from season one) then her mother apparently made some sort of noises about Katie not having time for court. It's all at TMZ.com. What a dumb mess. Depending on how much the showrunners think thy need her, Ruby may possess a new body post strike. To Dawn Ostroff, one 20 something actress may be as good as another. I'd rather it had been Lauren Cohan leaving. I like Ruby's character much better.

Her friend was driving. She was just a passenger. The cops stopped him for something else, then started questioning her. If she hadn't said she was someone else, it probably would have been fine. I feel kind of bad, because I'm sure a million people under 21 drink, including Jared, Jensen, Eric Kripke and the like.

I've read about the "incident" on three sites. The young man who was driving was allowed to drive away from the scene. He wouldn't have been allowed to do that had he been drunk.

Basically, this entire thing amounts to him being stopped because he rolled through a stop sign or something and the officer noticed that she was drunk in the passenger seat and administered a breathalyzer to her, too. If she hadn't said her name was Taylor Cole at first, would it even have been a blip on the radar? I looked it up. Katie's going to be 21 a week from Sunday. She had some wine and got a sober friend to drive her home.

BIG. F'ING. DEAL. If she wasn't driving, I couldn't possibly care any less. If she'd done the same thing a week from Sunday, no problem. Of course some of the hate brigade is out with pitchforks. Moral outrage because she "besmirched" Supernatural or some such nonsense. I wish Supernatural were high enough on the radar to be besmirched.

Some of the things people are saying just make me roll my eyes. Like they were so squeaky clean when they were 20. And I LOVE the comments about St. Jensen and St. Jared and how they would NEVER do anything like that!

The only thing about the whole incident that bothered me was the way her mom acted. Like she was too famous to have to deal with this. Because she was an actress she is above the law. That's BS. She messed up and lied to a police officer. Whatever, do what needs to be done to try and take care of it, but don't go all "I'm too famous for this".

I think seriously, the fandom needs to chill out though. It was a stupid mistake much akin to what so many people out there her age have done. So long as she takes care of it (doesn't ditch her court date) I don't see the big deal.

On LJ the people are ripping her a new one. I tried to sort of defend her and just say, hey she's being stupid and young, no one was hurt though and she's 10 days from her 21st birthday. This isn't that big of a deal.

Of course people's argument is this is a blemish on Supernatural's record. Or that its bad press. Heath's response: "Is a B rate show on a C rate network. No one cares."

I argue that the show's quality isn't B rate, but as far as ratings and the general populis' knowledge of this show, its the truth. I'm not even sure this is big enough to make it to access hollywood. The only people who will even hear about this are the people who watch the show already and are fans enough to be looking at this news on the internet and seriously, if you stop watching for this reason then maybe you aren't as big of a fan as you say.
