studio 60 on the sunset strip christmasI know I've been trumpeting the greatness of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip for quite some time but, mostly, that was all based on potential. I still loved the show, but I knew that it wasn't near as good as it could have been. It has been inconsistent, both from episode to episode and within every episode. Nonetheless, Aaron Sorkin had managed to create a slew of great characters who certainly had the capability to form the basis of a great drama.

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip finally delivered on its potential last night. Reminiscent of "The West Wing's" glory days, "The Christmas Show" came together and had it all. Quirky, Sorkin-esque banter, interesting drama, great character interactions, laugh-out loud moments, and, most impressively, a deft juggling of the large ensemble cast.

Sidenote, it was the soldier with the reporter who said the F*** word when they were almost hit by the RPG. Not the reporter. Not really important, but still. As for Weber, you are right, he's awfully good. And Jordan/Peet, boy, she's glowingly beautiful. And good too. The way she ate that spaghetti, im sure it wasn't acting

Studio 60 has been my favorite since it first aired. The Christmas Show was the best. I can hardly wait for its return!

I finally just watched this episode last night - WOW! It was by far the best episode of the show so far. With many shows it is the anticipation of how character interactions are going to develop that makes it so good. I think back to many seasons of friends where you see a relationship will develop in the future, and it's great - but it's always a bit of a disappointment. It's from this that I have a bit of trepidation about the future of the show (or any show, really), but I bet they can at least get a few great seasons out of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.
