Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

With high-pedigreed shows already dropping like flies (Smith, Kidnapped) after being given only a couple of episodes to find an audience, it's only a matter of time before the merciless guillotine of impatient network executives comes down on its next victim. TV has never been an industry concerned with art for the sake of art. If you're not getting ratings, you won't have a spot in prime time. The film industry is far better at this; they often let critically acclaimed, independent artists make their own films, not expecting them to make a lot of money. On TV, if your show happens to be critically beloved while getting the necessary ratings, that's just icing on the cake. However, no matter how great your show is, a lack of ratings will seal your fate.

Man, I hope NBC doesn't get impatient and cancel this great, great show.  It might even be my favorite show of the season.

I really don't care.  This is the most overrated show on TV.  It's pretentious and annoying.

No, this show doesn't deserve it.  It's not the best new show on TV.  It's filled with smug characters.  The Christian bashing is getting to me.  I'm not a fan of Christians myself, primarily because I don't like being preached to, not by a preacher, or anyone else, including Aaron Sorkin.  And that's how I feel watching this show.  Sorkin obviously has a problem with Christians, and possibly with good reason, but why is NBC giving him an hour of their prime-time schedule to work out his inner demons.  Why not just pay the bill for a good shrink.  Sorkin needs to get his head back on straight, he's too good to turn out this kind of junk.  The characters are all too smug to be likeable and everything else appears overly rehearsed.

Attention NBC Execs: Please do not cancel this show! It is brilliant--funny, sharp, witty, well-written, well-acted. The case is amazing. Please give it a chance. Maybe it will need a little bit to catch on, but I am sure it will. Don't cancel a great show!

The problem with the show is simple: it is neither as funny or as clever as Sorkin thinks it is.
From the pilot onwards, Sorkin has made it clear that the main purpose of his show is to save the unwashed masses from all the crap on T.V nowadays.  Not only is this a load of ****(there are probably a dozen of shows on television that are far more enertaining  then S60) but Sorkin's show is actually just as bad as the shows he mocks.  Crazy Christians? The bear said RAWWWR? Science Schmience? Even Saturday Night Live dosent sink to this level.

Where the hell are my pants?

I'm very surprised at how short the leash is for a new show.  Consider that "24" had a pretty mediocre 1st season yet to rebound year after year with better and better numbers.  I'd love to see Studio 60 rebound as it builds its audience base.

I love Studio 60.  I think they need to give it a chance.  Maybe try a 9:00 time slot.  I know alot of people don't stay up after 10:00 to watch tv.  This is a great show.  I hate when they cancel a show in the middle of the season.

It's different and not the run of the mill TV show. Because it is different it requires some time to absorb a taste. I hope the network sees it that way too.
