So You Think You Can Dance: Up To My Ears In Contemporary Dancers

Thank you, So You Think You Can Dance, for awarding the first half hour of last night’s two hour episode to the truly great auditions. Since tonight’s top 20 is announced, I’m glad that we had a little bit of a chance to get to know the real contenders instead of watching dummies roll around in their underwear or leap around in drag. From Katie Sheen to Janette Manrara, the first 30 minutes thrilled me to no end. Now if I could just figure out who the heck Napolean and Tabitha D'Umo are, I’ll be all set!

I'm assuming somebody misses Dancing With the Stars!

I totally agree Gina! I actually feel that once you've seen one contemporary dancer, you've seen them all. The judges love seeing people bringing different styles, so what's with all the contemporary lovin?

I like contemporary, however, what we don't see through the auditions is ballet... I would occasionally like to see someone on pointe for longer than 5 seconds... Particularly because they don't get the opportunity during the show... I know some killer ballet dancers who can cross over into other styles... I am surprised not to see more in the audition process...

I'm glad that the top 20 represented all styles of dance but there are still a LOT of contemporary danccers though. Don't get me wrong - I love the style - I just want every style to be treated fairly.

Chelsie Hightower is an excellent ballroom dancer and very sexy as well.
