So You Think You Can DanceSo You Think You Can Dance concluded its preliminary auditions tonight by taking a trip into America's heartland.  Judges Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy, who were joined tonight be husband and wife choreography duo Tabitha and Napoleon D'Umo, journeyed to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to see what kind of talented dancers they could find there.

More importantly, we are now only one day away from the Las Vegas callback auditions when So You Think You Can Dance announces the top 20 dancers.  That's when things will get really good!

Please explain to me how they can automatically greelight a tap dancer? It's so different from everything else the show does and has nothing to do with what the choregraphed dances are that I don't understand how they didn't ask that last chick to do the choreography. I mean, would the Idol judges put someone through if they just sang opera really well? No, they'd want to hear something contemporary.

Yesenia was incredibly inspiring and I hope her knee gets better so that she can come back next year. I also thought that Kourtni chick looked a lot like Uma Thurman and I really enjoyed her dance. A lot of filler this episode, but I thought Travis Barker's surprise routine at the end was fabulous all the same!

Editor: The last chick was great! Just because she does tap instead of, say, modern does not mean that she wouldn't be good at the styles they have in the competition. She is obviously very coordinated and able to control her body. It's the same thing when an untrained dancer goes on the show and does well. An untrained dancer may not have had years of technique training, but he or she intuitively knows how move and can learn choreography easily.

This is show is insanely great, and so much better than American Idol in just about every way. There's less filler, smarter judges, and watching dance is much more interesting than watching terrible singing.
