It seems I’m not the only one who hates sitting through bad auditions for FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance. Though there are the few and the proud who love an awkward hip hop routine, an overwhelming amount of BuddyTV readers would rather pass. In a poll on our site, 87% of the readers said they would prefer to see more good auditions than bad. Some even opt to skip the audition rounds all together. “ I only start watching the show when it is like down to the last ten that way my face is not permanently scwinched from the bad dancing,” BuddyTV reader Krytrix said. It’s not just the BuddyTV readers who have had enough. On last night’s 2 hour episode, Nigel, Mary, and Mandy had no patience for those with a lack of training or a serious passion for dance.

Ugh! I have to write live thoughts on all the auditions, so obviously, I would MUCH prefer to watch good, talented dancers, rather than no-talent hacks. (The occasional bad dancer might be okay, as long as he/she is also very entertaining.) Let's hope that tonight is better.

The judges are fine. If my dancing was not up to par, I would want it straight up and truthful. I mean yah I'd probably be pissed but at least they wouldnt be lying to my face

They need to keep bad auditions. It's the element of surprise kinda deal. Will they be good or bad? If they only showed good dancers, then we would expect them to do well enough to move on, which would be kinda pointless to show.

There's a difference between a bad audition and having no talent whatsoever. The show definitely needs to feature the better people and completely avoid the train wrecks who have no chance in hell of advancing.

Ugh! SYTYCD is becoming nearly as repugnant as American Idol.

The judges are deffinitly being harder this year. They are looking for people better than who they saw the past 3 sesons, but I think there are the dancers from the auditions this year are worse than last year and the previous seasons. You can't blame the judges - I would get very impatient and annoyed from seeing so many bad dancers. And if I was bad, I would rather hear it from someone who knows what they are doing.

Ok, I get that these people who have no talent need to be told this. But if thye're wasting the judges time, does the rest of the world need to have their time wasted as well? Does the poor kid who thought he or she was better than they are need to be humiliated on top of having their illusions shattered in terms that are not just brutally honest but sometimes maliciously so?

It's not going to deter the next kid who has more ambition than talent, because that kid doesn't know he or she sucks yet either. So unless the audition is comically bad in itself, there's no reason to be showing us this.
