Justin HartleyWe've spent months talking about the major departures that have plagued Smallville's upcoming eighth season.  Michael Rosenbaum and Kristin Kreuk are out as regulars next year, while creators Al Gough and Miles Millar have also moved on to other projects.  Now, thanks to Kristin at E!Online, we finally have news about someone joining the cast for season 8.  Justin Hartley, who plays Green Arrow/Oliver Queen on the CW show, will be joining Smallville as a series regular.  This news comes shortly after the CW decided not to pick up the pilot for Hartley's medical drama, Austin Golden Hour.

Aside from the addition of Hartley, we also found out more about Kristin Kreuk's involvement next year, as well as information on the two new villains that will be causing trouble for Clark Kent.

Thank the Gods. Having the awesomeness of Hartley's character will make watching and recapping so much more pleasant. Also, it gives me hope that his Justice League will make at least one appearance, meaning more Kyle Gallner.

I like Justin Hartley, and have been a fan of his since his Passions days.

Him in Smallville was a brilliant addition!

Thank God is Right....I like Justin and I know that he wanted to come back...and they didn't want him last season....but with major players departing on an already over the hill series....they took him back out of desperation...to keep season 8 going. Glad he is back yes....but as a second , third, maybe fourth choice ....nooooooo . Justin deserves better respect than that last call..(.you want to come back...since everybody else is leaving???)

I'm quite excited...but...it's going to explore his past? Really? Who cares. Let's start looking at Clark's future. Whatever, I'm still really excited.

Well, since it's most likely Smallville's last season; this is once again distract from Clark's story. The writers have done everything to undermine Clark and pimp Green Arrow to get their spin-off and it seems that they will once again try that at the expense of Clark of course. Just end Smallville and free Tom Welling already; he deserves much better than that joke of a series.

Tess is most likely Smallville's version of Miss Tessmacher from the Donner/Reeve movies. Though there are theories floating around that she may be Maxima's secret identity.
While more Hartley is a good thing he's probably gonna distract the writers from the mission statement: Turning Clark into Superman. And with season 8 being the last they really to just focus on that and moving Clark closer to journalism. Really, how much more can you do with GA's past than what's already been covered?
And don't even get me started on Davis Bloome aka Doomtender
