With Michael Rosenbaum leaving the series, there's no doubt that season 8 of Smallville is in need of a charismatic new villain. However, when it was announced that one of Superman's most notorious foes, Doomsday, would be featured in the show, I immediately thought it was a terrible idea. Doomsday is a huge, hulking alien behemoth that would be impossible to put on screen with Smallville's limited budget, and he's also a character that Clark Kent didn't meet until adulthood. In fact, Doomsday is most well-known for being the only character to ever kill the Man of Steel, which happened in 1993's "Death of Superman" comic. Smallville may need a new baddie, but can the show possibly do the character justice? To read the rest, click here.

100% agree with this article. I've been sayin how cool it would be if he killed Clark in a few message boards and I keep getting thumbs down. Thanks for making my point! Maybe the female villian will control Doomsday or something like that. Who knows, I'll just wait and see! As long as Smallville doesn't get campy, I'll keep watching

The Doomsday addition sounds interesting and I will have to wait and see how the character is created and how it is written up. Maybe the female villain will be the new Lex Luther with many layers and complex personality. Do we know who or what the female villain will be for season 8? Anyway, I will watch Smallville until the end. I hope the writers don't kill off Clark since I would love if they do a movie with him being Superman of course.

They haven't mentioned who the female villain will be, but they did say she'll be familiar to comic book fans. I miight write an article speculating on that one sometime soon.

Smallville should just change it's name to Superman, cuz that's clearly what it is.

Adding Doomesday is just asking for massive mistakes to happen. I really don't see how adding this uber killing machine is going to make for an interesting season. Clark'd get his butt handed to him on a platter the first time going up against Doomesday. Smallville, you're shooting yourself in the foot.

Very BAD IDEA!! If the real Superman got killed fighting doomsday how is little Clark kent who is still crying over a high school crush going to take him on!? These writers have been and apparently will continue to destroy the Superman legacy! Leave the doomsday angle alone and pick another villain and bring back the JLA!! Or just end the show now!

If Doomsday is this ultimate bad-ass who killed Superman, and the writers and producers of Smallville keep insisting on the "no flights/no tights" philosophy, the what possible challenge would be left for Clark Kent after this "Doomsday Season." In other words, with Lex dead/missing, and after Doomsday is somehow defeated (presumably), then what possible foes would be left to challenge Clark Kent after his Smallville journey has ended and he flies off to become "Superman"?? Becoming Superman at that point would seem pretty weak and pointless with the 2 baddest and most dangerous villains already out of the way before his first day on the job as Superman. The writers really lost their way this year. They should really let the fans write the final season.. hold a contest, everyone submit their stories, and they can pick the best 22 fan-written episodes and blend them all together somehow for a final blowout year of fun and original ideas leading up to the suit and tights ending every

Maybe it would be better to introduce Darkseid as the main Villain of the series. Or maybe Mr. Mxyzptlk and Metallo, who know anyone of this would be better than to put Doomsday, I think it is still too soon to put him on the show.
