Michael RosenbaumThe notorious rivalry between Clark Kent and Lex Luthor has slowly been building up on Smallville for seven seasons.  After years of anticipation, we'll finally get the battle we've been waiting for in next week's season finale, "Arctic."  On last night's episode, Lex obtained the final object he needed to point the way to the Fortress of Solitude, and as the promo for next week's installment showed, that's the first place he's headed.  Will the epic standoff between good and evil live up to our expectations, or will Smallville's seventh season go out with a whimper instead of a bang?  Read on for some spoiler-free theorizing about what might happen in the finale.

It would be a mistake, far too soon, to bring in someone else to play Lex. Instead the writers should look at this as a chance to remake a rich and darker Smallville to bring back the audience who grewn up with the show. Lex Luthor is a rich and powerful man, he has always needed to go on hiatus so that Clark Kent can fully transform into Superman and Lex can become the ultimate Super-villain.

I can't wait for the final battle between Lex and Clark. The Fortress will have an advantage over Lex since Jor-El is still part of it. I wonder if Kara will be in the battle as well. We will see how things end up. Michael may not be a regular but he can still be in season 8 from time to time. I hope Allison and Kristen will be in season 8 as well. Chloe is such a great character and she is great with Clark. I can't wait for next Thursday.

my guess is that lex in the comics an movie is in and out of prison alot that that will finally happen. seeing how the commercials showed kara telling lex about clark my guess is braniac has her under control especially since to episodes she fell to the floor with a head ache and hasnt mentioned her since. braniac is probly ticked that clark stopped him last time so he has kara tell lex his secret and that way him and lex will team up to try and kill clark. what do you say does anyone agree???

I've always assumed that when Lex left the show, he'd be going to prison somehow. Of course, I'm basing that assumption on the Supes movies, and we all know how much the movies have in common with Smallville. More than likely, Lex'll go into hiding or something. Don't really care what happens to Lana, because I'm sick to death of her.
