Allison MackIf Smallville's upcoming eighth season experiences any more shake-ups, it's possible the show may become completely unrecognizable.  As we've previously reported, creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are leaving at the end of the current season, and actors Michael Rosenbaum and Kristin Kreuk will not appear full-time next year.  Allison Mack's contract is also up at the end of season 7, but until today it was thought that she was a lock to sign up for Smallville's eighth year.  Now, according to TV Guide's Michael Ausiello, Mack's participation in the next season of Smallville may not be a sure thing.  Could the series survive without Chloe Sullivan?

This would be a major blow for Smallville losing all 3 of them. I hope they find a way to work this out because a season without Chloe, Lana, and Lex would be weird. They need at least one of them, it would be great if they had 2 of them and it would be wonderful if all of them came back. Thats how I see it.

Losing Allison Mack (Chloe) would be a fatal blow to a show that is already limping into its eigth season. In Smallville, Chloe is an essential charater. Losing Lex as the villian is a blow, but a villian is an easier replacement. Lana's story has been over for a long time. But Chloe's at the heart of this tale. If you lose Chloe and it's Clark alone with the 2nd string cast who many of us couldn't care less about. What a waste of time.

As far as I'm concerned, Chloe can go and Lana and Lex can stay. I have respect for Allison Mack, but I can't stand Chloe. She's a doormat and a know it all. She needs to get over herself and get a life. I think she makes a great FRIEND for Clark, but that is it. Smallville won't be Smallville without Lana and Lex on it. The Tom and Kristin chemistry is what I watch for.

I would like to have Chloe around in season 8, but I'd definitely watch Smallville without her, because it's all about Clark and I'd love to see things heating up beetween him and Lois and Chloe isn't needed for that. Btw I'm glad they're getting rid of Lana, 'cause she drives me crazy. "Poor perfect Lana" - for me she's a failure.

I would definitely watch without Chloe still being around... if anything the show would be better most likely, because then we can see Clark becoming not only the hero we know he will become, but he will learn to start researching, investigating, etc by himself without having to turn to Chloe everytime to do it for him.. he does become an investigative journalist himself, but with Chloe there, his skills are hindered so that the show gives Chloe Sullivan something to do. Lets next season focus on the mythos characters if it is to be the last, including giving Lana a proper closure with her character and her relationship with Clark, and then let Clark and Lois rise to the top on their own (they don't HAVE to be together), since that will be linking with the mythos as was the plan for the show.

Smallville is Clark, Lex, Lana, and Chloe. Time and time again the show, and the ratings, have proven everyone else to be dead weight. If the CW was smart, they'd do what they could to keep AM and MR. Alas, this is the network that renewed the canceled 7th Heaven.

I won't watch if Allison is gone. Without MR, and KK I think the show is pretty much done, IMO.
