Tom Welling, SmallvillePreviously on Smallville: Lex went to Zurich and found the magic Kryptonian compass that will lead him to the Fortress of Solitude (I'm guessing). Clark spent the whole time worrying about Kara instead of worrying about the fact that a megalomaniacal billionaire was close to finding the secret to have total control over Clark.

Clark (Tom Welling, who also directed this special 150th episode) pours of Dr. Swann's Krypto-Journal with messages from Kara on Krypton in the past. He's distracted by a photo of Lana, but Chloe (Allison Mack) arrives to pep him up about the fact that he should make the quantum leap in time back to Krypton to stop Brainiac from destroying the ship with baby Kal-El. I guess Brainiac got his hands on the Master's Paradox Machine.

It was nice seeing Chloe happy for a change and not obsessing over her unrequited love for Clark.

Why isn't the reporter Lois an option? It was nice seeing her interactions with Clark

Hmm, fair point. Sadly editing polls is harder than you'd think, so instead, start a write-in campaign here in the Comments section for Lois. Much as I've hated on her in past weeks, I did kind of like the sassy, plucky, Teri Hatcher-esque Lois. However, if that's what I wanted to watch, I'd spend the money on those DVDs.

How did any of this make sense? Lex should have drown under Loeb Bridge, all the meteor infected people made targets of Lana and Chloe, so they would have been dead. Were Lana's parents dead? So, poor Lois and Chloe, because Clark is in their life, they are being held back from being award winning journalist. How pathetic.

Ha, ClarkLovesLana, thank you sooo much for pointing out the many problems with this episode. Sure, the world was destroyed, but everyone was happy, which is more than we can say for the people in Clark's life now. Nevermind the major issues I have with paradoxes to start with. Also, can anyone explain to me how Lex was president? I don't know at what time this episode took place, but no way was he 35, so did Congress change the rules? Also, who the hell would vote for a dude in a white suit?

And what sense does it make for Clark to tell Chloe they cannot go back through the portal and change the past after he spent the whole episode trying to stop Brainiac from doing just that? They are not even trying to make sense. Personally I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt while I thought they were using the myth style but since they have emphasized moral relativism so insistently in recent years I think they have committed to a more realistic style. In that style so many inconsistencies is just a sign of weak storytelling.

It is true that this story had some minor plot holes but I loved seeing Clark in his disguise suit and glasses. I don't understand why Lois would be there since she came to Smallville to find out what happened to Chloe after the explosion so why would she be working in the Daily Planet. Lex as president was a bit of a stretch since he did not serve in the military. Lois and Clark are starting to have some chemistry and maybe some sparks will unite between them.
