I've always predicted Lionel as the one to go.

just because the preview is cut that way, doesn't mean that's the order of events... or who dies... that being said Lionel is def. one of the most likely to go... he's non cannon to "superman"

I don't think the fact that John Glover is signed on for next season means he won't die. Lionel can live in the minds of Lex, Clark, and others in the show.

we all should not take anything to heart, because if we are as big a fans as we claim we all know that Lex die in all of them and came back at some point. so we should not be disappionted, just enjoy what come in each season as long as it last.

Michael RosenbaumIf you've managed to catch any of the promos for Smallville's first post-strike episode, you know exactly what will happen to change Lex's life on Thursday's installment of the series.  As someone who still cherishes the element of surprise, I'm a bit offended that the CW has spoiled such a big moment in the trailer.  I guess they have no desire to tease viewers regarding Lex's (Michael Rosenbaum) turn to the dark side.

To get fans ready for Smallville's big return, we have some promo photos and that spoiler-filled trailer from "Descent."  The episode airs this Thursday at 8pm on the CW.

Well, it excites me that it may not be Lionel. I was disappointed that the trailer showed so much. Seeds of doubt are welcome. Now I'll sort of be a little surprised.
