Kristin Kreuk, Allison MackClark Kent's hometown is going to experience a lot of big changes when the CW's Smallville returns for its eighth season in the fall.  Fans of the series were shocked when news recently came out that Michael Rosenbaum and Kristin Kreuk would not be returning to the show full time.  The biggest questions remaining are how often the actors will appear in season 8, and what the show will be like without Lana and Lex around.  Now we have some more details about their departures, how often fans can expect to see their characters, and a surprising update regarding Allison Mack's status on the series.

See, the only real difference is going to be how they're credited, as guest stars instead of in the opening credits. Think of Lost: in s3, Emilie de Ravin only appeared in 12/22 episodes. Heck, Terry O'Quinn (Locke) only showed up in 13 episodes. Of course, the difference is that Smallville doesn't have a massive, talented ensemble cast to hide behind. On the bright side, maybe this means more Jimmy-centric episodes.

I'm actually glad there's going to be no Lana or Lex in the next season...their characters ahve become to predictable and even sorta boring. Hopefully this will bring some new spice to the show! =)

i willl probably still watch smallvillle, just 2 c how everything turns out, but there r many reasons 4 the show 2 end: this is clark's beginning life, they cant really make chapter after chapter for 8 yearz && him not even turn out superman!!!! && come on, the show with only a few charecters!!! (Clark, Kara, Chloe, Lois, Lionel, Jimmy) && honestly,, the last half of those charecters r kinda boring!!!!!!

It will be interesting how Smallville will be when season 8 starts. As it is Smallville has not been that super in a while and maybe once Lana leaves there will be better story lines. I like Lex and Chloe so I hope they are in at least most of the episodes.

I think with some of the major characters leaving it will make the show different in a good way, like a nice change for the show although the show doesn't really need the change

it's very likely only one more season, and so i really don't know what the big deal is. is every going to be so busy doing films? i really doubt that since apparently it's actually quite difficult for actors to get themselves into good films. therefore, what's one more year...especially since you need these very fans to support you in the future anyway.

I think this is really good news. Lana is getting old...it seems like her and clark are together but after all this on and off again stuff it kinda feels like they are not. She needs to just go away.. And its time for some good villians to come along besides Lex
