Smallville: Episode 7.8 "Blue" Recap - Page 3

Kal-El's Gal here: I don't want to P**S anyone off here, but let's stop being so hung up on this Clark flying thing. If you want to get technical, Superman didn't fly at all in the first year's worth of comics back in 1939 (which was the very first year it was written), he could just leap tall buildings with a single bound - and he wasn't above actually killing a bad guy if he had to. In that way, I guess Smallville writers have been taking a feather out of the Seigel/Schuster cap. There have been so many incarnations of Superman in the comics that almost anything makes sense for Smallville. Except this Grant/Jullian thing. I almost hurrled at that one!

Kal-el'sgal; your actually right there. The original writers of superman didn't have him fly until well over a year after. That's where the saying"able to leap tall buildings in a single bound" came from. However it only took them a little over a year to see there mistake and just made him fly. It's taking the smallville writers over 7 years! Enough is enough!!

As cecil said I want my payoff. I want more character development for Clark. Not just flying but when the hell is he going to be a reporter? That's how he and Lois,Jimmy and so on meet in the comics. O.k. I get it's not the comics and just a show but come on. He's supposed to be this hot shot reporter himself and nothing. They're going backwards here. In earlier seasons he was a reporter for his HS paper. Yes it was short lived but they just completely ingnore it now. They didn't even mention him taking classes in college on writing. NOTHING!

Enough of this whole romance thing. I don't care if it's lana, lois,or chloe at this point just develope the character more. He is supposed to turn into superman for crying out loud. Not that romance is bad but it's not the only cause for him being Superman. They only have a year and a half so lets get this ball rolling already.

I agree too batfan. The writers should concentrate on clark's character development. The people who love clark and lana together or clark and chloe together sounds nice but its linda like fighting a losing battle because he cant be with them because he will have to at some point accept his destiny as superman. Its almost like rooting for your favorite team when your friend told you who already one. The writers should not be veering off the plot with weird story lines that make no sense.At this rate they will have clark evolve at the last 2 episodes of the series. I know they cant make blunt references to superman but at least drop more hints at this point in the show that clark is moving in that direction.

I want Clark to be superman as much as the next guy. In fact the closer he can be to become supermanly, the more I will cheer! Like Batfan and Jokerman mentioned above, some character developments of Clark getting to his destiny ie. save the world, reporter etc would be great. However, as much as I want this, I do not want any character development of the other core four sacrificed to achieve this goal. After watching this show for well over six years, I feel that I have invested enough time and patience in this show and hence the characters to care about where their separete journeys lead, as well as how they affect and in turn effect Clark's journey. I want to see where Lex, Lana and Chloe end up as much as I want to see Clark becoming superman. That is why as much as I want to support the Clark-is-superman train, I also can't help but cheer for Chloe-is-lois-lane or Lex-is-evil-Luthor or Lana-is--- (well, I'm not sure what she is) trains. I want the journey's of the other core three

I want the journey's of the other core three to get where they are suppossed to be as much as I want to Clarks. This is why a Chlark or Clana issue seem important (aspecially since I've started believing in the Chlois theory). As far as the other characters are concerned-- I could care less. I don't feel invested enough in them to care rather. Lois-- well, I cared when I thought she was Iconic Lois Lane, now I'm not soo sure they can do anything to ever redeem her from the ditch they have put her in. A "Lois Lane" dating her immediate editor??? That would never happen! So, I've decided to believe that Chloe will become Lois Lane--or rather that Chloe is the the Real Lois Lane, so I no longer care for the Erica Durance Lois Lane character-- I can just enjoy her as a character that adds some humor to the show and that's it-- her journey is no longer that important to me. Kara-- well, she's interesting to watch, but again where she ends up is none of my concern, so I really don't care. Sh

She can stay in detroit with amnesia for a while. Jimmy-- well, Jimmy is just there, he's already where he's suppossed to end up, and finally Lionel- I love love love Lionel, but I'm not soo sure whether he's evil, good or in between so I'm not really looking forward to see his ending. Grant/Julian/Clone/science experiment/etc?? Well, he's cute to look at...and he and EdLois make a cute couple, but that's all I see. So in conclusion? I agree we need some Character development on Clark, but I also want to who ends up with, or rather at least some him of who he will end up with, simply because that person's journey is as important as Clark's is, especially when it comes to impacting his life. I hope against hope that it's not Erica Durance's Lois Lane character. As much as I love Erica Durance, I think the Lois lane character is written horribly and it's become worse this season, so I hope there's some Chlois ending to all this.

Agreed cecil. I too want to see where they all end but right now we're not getting a solid story for any of them. The writers are moving backwards. The real lois would never have an affair with her boss as you say because in the books her real boss was an old chubby man. Hellooooo, his name was perry white! where is he. In past seasons when clark met him he said he was going to work at the planet. So where is he. Jullian is supposed to be dead. Now we have this shmuck claiming to be him and lex was in on it. after going through all this trauma crap. Jor-el according to clarks real mom and uncle was a peaceful kind man. yet in past episodes they make him out to be this crule evil dictator that wants his son to rule the earth.
