Hey guys!! Sorry I've been gone for a few days -- lots to catch up on tho! Where to start..... first off, Cecil, my phrasing was "Chloe SEEMINGLY accepted Lana as a second sidekick" and I say that only because we've never seen a scene where Chloe is in Lana's Secret Stalker room listening to and accepting information fed to her by Lana, and especially with Clark around soaking it up as well. It seemed very sidekick-ie to me and I was craving a Chloe at the DP scene instead. But I agree that I think they only did that to have Lana in a scene other than Lex's memory of them having sex. I think that's also why she was there when Clark was going to go under and they had that little good-bye moment. She really wasn't needed then either - only Chloe so she could save him. Which I guess brings me to my next point on Chloe.

I too have thought they may end up having Chloe save Clark, but my worry on that one is that she's only saved humans thus far. Saving Clark may actually kill her as he's superhuman. We don't know. So that's why I worry about Chloster's health.

Cecil - LOVED your comments on Clark needing "a girl who will make him feel 'normal and special' at the same time." It's SO TRUE!! I always loved those Alicia eps because he really does need that in a companion!! And I think you're right that it goes back to Lana only representing a "normal" element for Clark - not the special part. Even now, when she knows about his abilities, and even having experienced them herself, she still doesn't perceive them as something which makes him different from others. Clark was always worried that she wouldn't see him as normal and accept him - like in Reckoning when he says, "Do I look different to you now?" and she says, "You're still the same handsome guy I've always known." Her phrasing always alludes to her thinking of him as just a normal guy - which he needs. But at the same time he also needs someone who caters to that special side of him - which Lana doesn't.

As to your questions, Mxlpdilk, others may be able to answer more thoroughly, but I believe Clark's realization at Lex's evil side at the end of season 3 and beginning of season 4 was that he found Lex's secret Clark-Obsession room. So he'd been lying to him and whatnot since they met and that pissed little Clarkie off. In "Devotion", Lex tried to kiss & make-up by destroying everything in the room, smashing the porsche down to a cube, and handing over the files of everything he ever had on Clark to him. Clark accepted this (because he also wanted to ask a favor of Lex - to help Lois get into college and therefor get her outta Smallville) but was still cautious from then on as to Lex's good side. So we have him being cautious of Lex in season 4, still trying to maintain hope that Lex is good, but knowing he has to be extra careful because Lex may still be researching him - especially with the caves as in the episode "Blank". Which brings us to the beginning of season 5 when Clark loose

Clark looses his abilities, becomes human, and Lex devises a Bellereeve breakout which could have killed both him, his parents and Lana. It's at that point that he writes Lex off again. Clark keeps holding on that there's good in him somewhere, but their friendship is no more because of how fa rLex has gone to try and figure out Clark's secret. That's how he almost lost Chloe's friendship too - too much digging into his life. As to your second question about us knowing Clark has been infatuated with Lana since he was five, I believe they tell us that over and over in season 1. I'd have to go back and look for sure, but I'm almost positive that's the case. He just admits to age 10 when he's standing in front of Lana, and that's just what he's been wishing on his b-day cakes since he was 10 - but the infatuation has been mentioned several times that he's been in love with her since he was 5.

On that whole "Chosen" point..... I think for me at least, I held onto Clana for so long because with every movie/sitcom/etc. there is always a couple who you are supposed to be rooting for. The writers always have someone who is pre-determined as the soul-mate for the protagonist, and in Smallville it's always been Lana - but as Superman was a mythology before Smallville and his true love has already been determined as Lois Lane, it was always a toss up. On one end we root for the person who in Hollywood-land is "supposed to" end up with Clark, but get torn with all of the Chloe/Alicia/Lois teasers.

OMG I have missed all you guy's and your insights and comments on this site. I have been off-line for three weeks now due to one computer problem after another but thankfully everything is fixed now. I have to say that after each of the last three eps I had so much to say but after spending the last hour catching up on the posts here you have pretty much covered it. (Special shout out to Cecil whom I worship and adore, love love love your posts especially the laugh out loud descriptions of Lana). Okay I missed everyone, even Lanarocks, if you can beleive it, I think I might have an addiction.

Mxlpdilk: Alacia answered the questions perfectly. So I'll just agree with everything she wrote above. And yes about Clark being in love since age five, we are told this a bunch of times over the course of the series.

Now the only thing I wanted to mention that I haven't seen discussed is well, first I have to say I loved Fracture. I love getting a look inside Lex's mind. So anyway I wanted to say that I really liked the contrast shown in Lionals character. To see him in Lex's mind you just wanted to horsewhip him but at the end you see how far he has come. I know its questionable but he seems to want to be a better man and father, or at least he wants to support Clark. I though the chemistry between JG and MR was amazing and I loved the dynamics between them when Lional finally admits to Lex that he loves him just to basically have that love rejected. Now I'm really curious to see what he is going to do with his knowledge of Chloe's powers. He seemed to protect her secret from Lex but considereng he has reveled in his dark side for most of his life will we learn that he will intend to use this for some dark purpose or will his relationship with Clark be more important???
