Clark Kent hovers over Lana Lang on SmallvilleSmallville fans who have been waiting for Clark Kent to finally take flight will have to wait a little longer, as executive producer Al Gough said the show will be sticking to its “No Tights, No Flights” policy this season, despite the arrival of Clark's gravity-fighting biological cousin, Kara.

“We are sticking with that policy as far as Clark [Tom Welling] is concerned,” Gough responded to a fan query via TV Guide, before providing a ray hope by claiming “Kara will be giving [Clark] ‘flying lessons' later in the season.  Although with Clark, they end up being more like ‘falling lessons.'”

I think its cool that kara will be give him some insight into his past but i think that what makes superman "superman" is the blue and red suit that we all know. I dont know why the creators thinkthat making him fly will show that he is superman and not clark...not even to fly a little bit. After reading the lineur story is the journey, not the conclusion, i think that he will never fly not even in the last wpisode...i just think its weak for them not to have him fly

I agree Jokerman. It's time for him to fly. It's kind of bogus that Kara gets introduced into the show and she can fly, but Clark can't. I mean they are the same aren't they, the yellow sun is suppose to affect all Kryptonians the same with all the same abilities, despite the fact that Clark is the only one that actually grew up on Earth. His molecular structure is still the same as all the other Kryptonians that have come to Earth isn't it? So how come they won't let him fly. I don't have a problem waiting on the red and blue suit, but not having him fly already is becoming a pain. If you ask me, they should have had him start flying when he turned 18. It wouldn't have taken away from young Clark Kent's journey to superman because flying isn't the only thing that makes him superman. He still had a lot of things to learn about finding the balance between who he really is and who he portrays to the rest of world. He still had a lot to learn about what it really means to be both Kryptonian and Human at the same time; among a lot of other things. So the journey wouldn't have ended. I just don't get it.

Yeah really. Every superman comic i read or show or apeical i watched about him portrayed young clark kent on the farm as having all of his powers. They may not have been fully developed yet but they were all there. You are right kishagirl, there are so many other cool powers that make him superman. what about superspeed and heat vision. I dont know why they decided to single out that one power. Kara can gly because she is his older cousin and he is coming into his powers. I think its gonna be cool to watch her try to teach him to fly...at least its something

Yeah, I guess, since they won't let him fly. Your right, we'll just have to settle for that. But the writers really need to re-consider their decision considering the feedback and demand from the fans. I don't see what the big deal is anyway, I mean the objective is to satisfy the viewers, right? Why not give us what we want?

But only because he screwed up the relationship with lana. "HE" they said HE screws up! Oh helloooooo! How many times did this twit screw things up and it's still clarks fault they break up. Are they F*@king kidding me!! So the show ends with the princess coming out clean as a whistle!! Excuss me while I go throw up!!

Lostheroe2324 we've seen kal-el fly, but not Clark Kent. We've also seen Clark do high jumps, but not fly. We've seen him floating above Lana's bed, but that was either a dream or something...I'm not quite sure. Ok now to IMPORTANT stuff:

Batfan114 thanks for the hands up! This line:"The fact that he screws it up so badly, no matter how hard he tries, is one of the reasons he ends up with Lois"-- What the hell are the producers trying to say? That the ONLY reason Clark ends up with Lois is because HE screwed up his chances with Lana? So he settles for Lois???? I can't even believe that the producers are senseless enough to say such a thing! Clark!Lois is the greatest superhero love story ever told, and they are saying that it's only because Clark screws up with Lana? Especially after all "she-who-wears-pink", "she-who-is-blameless", "she-who-is-worshipped" and "she-who-only-knows-how-to-whisper-and-whine-about-secrets" has done??? That little (borrowing Batfan114's name) twit does everything from framing someone for murder, trying to kill someone, stealing money, and all the other unmentionables and they are still insisting that Clark is the one screwing things up? I'm mad... I'm very very mad.. and now I know for sure
