Default 4/27/08 "Unfavorite" quotes

So, we've already had a thread about what our favorite quotes are. What about those clunky lines that just make you cringe? Do any of you have a dubious favorite like that?

Well, I can say that anything that comes out of David Caruso's mouth on CSI: Miami is like that. Also, and I can't think of anything specific right now, but a lot of Heroes dialogue is really clunky and inelegant.

I agree about Heroes, especially the stuff Mohinder says at the beginning... I bet he doesn't even have any idea what he's talking about.

And maybe it's just me but this last episode of Desperate Housewives seemed pretty weak... or at least the actors were. I don't know, but some of the lines are pretty weird lately. Like Bree's "You work beautifully, I'm in." to Katherine.

It's not from a TV show, but these are some of my most unfave quotes ever. Both from Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith (I loved that movie, but the dialouge was very ... unlucky ... in places )

- The whole "I love you like I'm blind" balcony scene. Seriously, first a topless Hayden and then this dialouge? Urgh!

- Obi-Wan to Anakin before cutting his feet off on Mustafar: "You can't win, because I have higher ground". Oh yeah. That's a totally logical explanation for why the most talented Jedi ever looses the battle, because he can't make that jump.
Anyway, there was a Gilmore Girls episode, where Lorelai and Luke obviously went to see ROTS and Luke was arguing with Lorelai about how stupid that was (I so agree with him). Later Luke and Lorelai had a fight while he was up on her roof fixing something on her house or making the bedroom bigger because he was about to move in or something. He said to Lorelai "You can't win, because I have higher ground". That was great!

I think we could nominate every line of dialogue in the Star Wars prequels.

As for TV shows, I hate the ones that are oozing with pretension. One Tree Hill and Heroes are probably the biggest offenders. So much of the dialogue on those shows is infused with pompous importance.

I forgot about OTH, BuddyD, but it really does have some of the worst dialogue on TV.

Calena, I have to agree about Star Wars. Especially in Ep II when Anakin was like "I slaughtered them like animals." I thought that was pretty bad writing... or Anakin was just stupid.

On the other hand, it inspired some people to great work:
