4/18/08 Proposals

Dunno if you guys saw last night's episode of The Office, but it got me thinking about marriage proposals. Heh. What are some memorable proposals from TV or the movies?

The first one that comes to mind is Izzie and Denny and the LVAD incident. Are there any others out there?

I was always a fan of Xander's proposal to Anya in "The Gift" episode of Buffy, followed by her getting upset that he'd propose right before the apocalypse. Too bad their marriage imploded before it even began.

Aw, the Xander one was sweet, especially with Anya's reply to propose "after the world doesn't end."

I have two great ones.

1) Ed to Carol in season 4 of "Ed." No one will EVER compare to the charming whimsy of Ed played by the fantastic Tom Cavanagh. He finds a list she made as a kid of all her favorite things, so Ed gathers them all up, including some concepts like sunset at the beach.

2) Turk on Scrubs. He actually had several proposals because she said no at first. Eventually, she calls him and says she's ready, so he rushes off and proposes so beautifully, accompanied by JD running around them with fireworks. Sweet and funny.

What about Chandler and Monica at the end of season 6 of Friends. That was really well done, IMO.

I am usually not into that sort of thing, but the best proposal I saw and that stood out for me was the one in Clerks II (movie), when he gives her the ring through the drive thru window and she climbs through it into his car. Its not just the how, but more the why! Because she says "What took you so long" I can relate to that

The best one in a series was the one in Scrubs, when Turk finally proposed to Carla and JD is running around them with those sparklies in his hands like child on too much sugar. Very cute.
