| Looking at all the current shows what would you say in your opinion consistantly (sp) is the best show on tv in terms of casting (regular and guest stars), writing, quality, effects (if it has any), you care about what happens, you get the shakes when their is a premption or does not have a new episode on, a show you feel comfortable saying you like it and talk to friends and or family about it. |

| For me, it's a tough toss up between Lost and Friday Night Lights. They're about as different as two shows can be, but better than anything else on television in my opinion. |

| Currently it's Supernatural. It used to be a tie between Prison Break and Lost for me, but Prison Break has lost me (hah!

| I agree... For me it's a tie between SPN and PB at the moment... Of course I am dismayed if current rumours are true... but I want to keep watching it anyway.... as I believe that there is a great story to be told still in PB!!!! As most know on here now, I am a relative newcomer to the world of SPN... But I really have to say... excellent show!!! I'm really hooked on it at the mo!!! I took the unusual route of 'forcing' myself to sit down an dwatch a S3 ep... a few weeks back, not previously having seen S1 or 2!!! I could see why this show is a hit!!! I am nearly finished watching all of S1 now! Tomorrow I start watching S2!! So for me.... It's these two!!!!

| Hmm, I'm gonna look at this as: what shows have been consistently great. Lost had some definite weak times, and FNL's second season started out very rough. If you discount the first season, The Office could probably be on this list. And sadly, The Wire just ended (I'll say it again, best show of all-time, no doubt). First, I'll say that "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" makes me laugh out loud every single episode, and I believe it will become one of those huge cult shows. For pure, genuine greatness, shows that are worthy of the great pantheon of all-time greatest shows: The Shield: A Vastly underappreciated gem, the first season was brilliant yet, somehow, it has gotten better every single season. BSG: I recently rewatched the miniseries and plan on rewatching seasons 1 and 2 as Sci Fi reairs them this week. It really is a remarkable show with such rich and interesting characters, actors, mythology, and special effects. I believe both of these shows will be atop the list in the future when people look back on this time in TV. Much as you may enjoy PB or SPN, I don't believe either will be deemed truly great or iconic TV shows, comparatively. |

| Definitely Lost. I think this 4th season is it's best. Best show overall, though, is Friends. I don't think there will ever be a show better than Friends.

| Jared's S&M gal ![]() | The best show on TV is The Wire. Every season was amazing and the series is the most well-written, well-acted show on TV. Every single scene, every single piece of dialogue is relevant to the whole story and every character pulls you into the story. Also it's one of those shows that provokes questions about our society and, in turn, when you watch it, gets you thinking on a level...thinking about things you've never thought about before. I think there's some decent and even good shows on TV but, honestly, they all pale in comparison to The Wire. It is and will always be a masterpiece.

| I definitely have to agree with adia on The Wire. Simply the best show ever. As for other shows: I personally think that BSG is another great show, unfortunately not with the consistently great quality of The Wire. Season 3 of BSG had some episodes that should have never happened (I mean The Women King? The only non-negative thing about that episode was Tahmoh Penikett shirtless) but it's overall a great show plus it has some aspects which The Wire despite its greatness and awesomeness is lacking, like shippiness and hot guys walking around in towels or wifebeaters- yeah, sometimes I'm that shallow. And the third show in my personal top 3 would probably be Farscape. I know it is a scifi show and therefore practically automatically underappreciated and suffering from certain biases but I still think it has done a great job with storytelling, characterizations and continuity. Plus it gets bonus points from me for handling the Aeryn/John relationship so well and it's a nice mix of drama and comedy IMO. Heh, and the muppet aliens actually work well, even though that idea might sound terribly on paper. As for comedy I'd probably say Arrested Development, simply because even after having seen many episodes for like the fifth time by now I still find it incredibly funny and the show never fails to make me laugh.
