| Who has the best (or worst) father-son relationships on TV? Why?

| Moderator ![]() ![]() | Well maybe its the best and worst father/son relationship but I'm going to go with Dean and John from Supernatural. John and Sam have an interesting relationship as well, but Dean and his realtionship to his father have always been this thing for me that keeps me so interested in the show. Dean's whole identity is wrapped up in his father. Everything he is is because of his dad and the things his father did and did not do. Now some people could argue thats the same with every kid. They are who they are because of how they are raised, but I think the extremeness of the situation, the obsessive nature John undertook, the burden of being a parent as soon as Dean was old enough to hold a gun steady, they created a person who can't think of himself outside of who his is in reguards to his relationship to his brother and his father. We all see ourselves in reguards to others, but we all also have an idenity of our own. Who we are, what we like, things like that. Who Dean is and what Dean likes are who his father is and what his father likes. They have such a complex relationship where Dean has his father up on this pedastool as a hero but in the same breath can acknowledge that John was an obsessed bastard is by far one of the most interesting father son realtionships I've seen on tv. I hope I made sense here.

| Best: Lucas and Dan. Worst: EVERYONE on Lost. (true story... it's one of the series' themes: everyone has daddy-issues) Best: Luke and his daughter. I forgot her name. Worst: Claire Bennett and Nathan. Best: Micah and D.L. (RIP) I could go on for hours.

| WORST: John Locke and his dad who threw him out a window 2ND WORST: Jack Bauer and his terrorist dad BEST: Sandy and Seth Cohen, so fantastic and understanding 2ND: Tommy Gavin and his dad from Rescue Me...a bit unconventional, but there's so much love in the way they can't communicate with each other |

| I always liked Linc's and LJ's father-son-relationship on PB until they decided to go totally out-of-character for the two at some point in season 2. And despite being still stuck in season 1 of The OC I might have to agree on Seth and Sandy Cohen. I'm kind of blanking on the worst but I kinda feel inclined to mention John Locke and his father, even though I stopped watching pretty early in the 3rd season. I mean I remember right that his father basically stole his kidney and stuff like that?

| Yeah, I'd say John Locke's dad is definitely the worst dad ever. I love the relationship between the Adamas on Battlestar Galactica, even if it is a bit dark and complicated at times. |

| As for the Adamas on BSG: I'm kinda torn on that one, sometimes I really like it, then again there are moments when I feel slightly annoyed by it.

| worst: Michael Scofield and Aldo Burrows. Aldo got shot shortly after Michael met him, and although Aldo watched out for him for afar, they never had a relationship with each other.
