Michael Emerson. Why? Have you seen his acting? Need I say more? His speeches seriously give me the shivers. He is so incredibly talented, it's crazy. lol

I have to admit I really loved the acting style of the late great Jerry Orbach.... Of Law & Order fame! He also did acting roles in films such as Dirty Dancing amongst others... He was also the voice of Lumiere in Disney's Beauty & The Beast! Even though Law & Order remains a brilliant programme I still really miss Lenny Briscoe in it!!! Jerry Orbach... R.I.P. ..... Rest In Paradise!!!

Who can even tell when someone is over 50 anymore? Aren't some of the desperate housewives over 50 now?

I have no idea, my mind is drawing a blank. Is Jake's dad over 50 on Jericho? Probably, I'll pick him.

Wow, I didn't realize Emerson was that old. And I'm wit smiley, Jerry Orbach was a national treasure, and at least in reruns, people will always remember how much texture and brilliance he added to a pretty standard cop role.

Meimei: yes, Jake's dad (aka Major Dad Gerald McRaney) is over 50, and he rules. If you thought he was good in Jericho, check out his work on the last season of HBO's Deadwood. Brilliant stuff. And as for DH ladies, Marcia Cross is the oldest at 45 (46 in March).

While there are many great actors over 50, my current vote goes to Edward Herrmann. Great as Richard Gilmore, he was recently awesome on Grey's Anatomy and even showed up in a tiny cameo on the last 30 Rock. Coincidentally, like Michael Emerson, Herrmann also won a Guest Actor Emmy for his work on The Practice.

Edward Herman is made of awesome! I love him in The Lost Boys!

And those DH ladies are getting close. In a few years we can throw them on the list! LOL.

Ah yes! Edward Herrmann is definitely another great choice! Brilliant actor!

Mei, I'm not sure DHW will be going on for that long. But if it then I'll definitely put them on the list because those ladies are made of awesome. Especially Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman are brilliant actresses.
Ok, sorry. A bit off topic.

I remember seeing Jerry Orbach perform in person in the musical Chicago. He was awesome ... and he is missed. L&O isn't the same without him.

This isn't necessarily TV related, but I'm obsessed with old British actors. Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Judi Dench, Helen Mirren, etc. I imagine them all sitting around having tea together and swapping filthy jokes. Don't ask me why.

William Fichtner, though he's not that much over 50 (he's 51 if I'm right). But he's still an awesome actor.
And Mary McDonnell and Michael Hogan are also great on BSG.
