You were wrong, cynics!  Pushing Daisies, the critically lauded new fairy tale-comedy-drama from ABC, debuted last night and easily won its time slot, garnering very good ratings across the board, and dominating in key demographics.  This is great news for anyone who likes good TV.  Personally, I was prepared for the worst when it came to Pushing Daisies' ratings.  But, ABC publicized the best new show of the season well enough to bring in a big audience, which also had to have been helped by the show's universally incredible reviews.  To be fair, its time slot isn't all that competitive and the second episode will be a truer indication of how audiences are responding to Daisies

You are way off based Dahl. This show is terrible...Maybe a 12-13 year old might enjoy it. C. McBride is the only bright spot in this over-narrated, hoaky fairy tale. America will wake up and dump this by January 09.

If Oscar if off base, then so am I, and so are the rest of the TV critics across the country, all of whom agree this is the best new show. It's a very stylized show, and the narration and hokey fairy-tale aspect are intentional devices used to tell this fantastical story. It's beautiful and funny and poetic. America may slowly tune it out, but ABC will have a hard time dumping it because the critic are so universally on board, much like they were last season with Friday Night Lights. Since most of their new shows (Big Shots, Cavemen Carpoolers) are getting ripped apart by critics, if ABC wants any sort of credibility, they'll keep this show on for at least the whole season.

I totally loved this quirky new show and I am not 12 or 13. Far from it. It's different, it's pretty to look at. It is a breath of fresh air. Who needs another fricken doctor show?

I gave PD a glance. I woke up and dumped it long before January 9. Next time I'm all liquored up, I'll give it another try.

I had high hopes, but soon realized this was a poor attempt at the quirkiness of Dead Like Me and DH. Sorry, agree that it's for 13 year olds, not allowed to stay up until 10 pm yet. I'll do something productive on Wed. nights now - PP and SDM are two losers that follow PD, so Wed. night belongs to whomever can air something worth watching.

I really liked Pushing Daisies and I am not 12 or 13. I liked the freshness of it. It was something new and different. I am so tired of one hour dramas that are about nothing more than sex and drama. IMO, it was refreshing and brilliant. I'm curious as to what you consider something worth watching.

I thought it was OK. The whole "not being able to touch each other thing" between the two leads is going to get old real quick though. It was already frustrating to watch in Episode 1. I can't see them carrying this through the whole season. The narration is mucho annoying to me as well. If her refers to "Young Ned" one more time.. And couting off people's ages to the minute.. The show seems to get caught up in it's own cuteness a little too often for me as well..ala the kissing monkeys at the end. Yuck!
A plus was definitely the supporting cast. The aunts where hilarious and the mortician was great. Some of the dialogue I found sharp as well. "Couldn't you have backed up a little?!"
Overall, when all was said and done though,it just didn't have me really excitied to see the next episode.
