| 'Break' Time: Call him Mr. Adaptable 09:27 AM CST on Monday, November 13, 2006 By HUNTER HAUK / Quick Benjamin Miles 'C-Note' Franklin is one of the "Fox River 8" who escaped last season. This season, he's managed to bring his wife and daughter into hiding with him, despite a close call with the Feds. Will we see your story line continue in the next episode? Any hints about what's ahead for C-Note? You'll see me next in the Nov. 20 episode. Let's see what I can give you ... Well, someone in my family may get sick, and we might run into a big snag. There'll definitely be a life-threatening situation. Seems like there's one of those every five minutes on this show. But unlike a couple of the other escapees, your character's only goal is to protect his family. Do you think the writers will reward him in the end? Well, the thing is, once they reward him, that's the end of the story line. So I hope there are more and more twists. They keep him rockin' and rollin'. How are you like C-Note and how are you different from him? I'm not married and I don't have kids, even though I'd like to be a father one day. How am I similar? We're both about the hustle. He has so many things going on, and he's definitely a chameleon. I'm the same, but in a more productive way. I try to adapt to every situation I'm in and every person I work with. I learned that because my mom moved us around a lot when I was a kid. Prison Break and Soul Food were the two series you've worked the longest on. How do the experiences differ? Soul Food was more of a family drama. Both of my roles were fathers trying to be good providers, but other than that everything's different. The writers' approach to the timeline ... the demographic that watches. The great thing about Prison Break is that it's opened a lot of doors for me. I've had so many opportunities come out of it. It's really pushed my career up. Example? Well, I'm trying to do some writing and directing. There's a film I want to make – actually I want to move it to Dallas – called Double Clutch. It's about a NASCAR driver who really shouldn't be a NASCAR driver. There's also a play I'm trying to adapt into a film about the fight against AIDS. If you had to choose between acting, directing and writing, what would it be? That's sort of a hard question. It's like asking Lance Armstrong what he would do if he could never bike again. I just do it all, man. I paint, write, act, produce. Right now I don't think I could choose. TV Guide named you one of Television's 50 Sexiest Stars of All Time. Did you see that one coming? It was really weird. I take compliments like that and run as fast as I can. It is what it is, but I have to say that whoever chose me had good taste. [Laughs.] Say a close friend asks you for your personal tour of Dallas. Where would you take him? I'd have to take him to the W and Ghostbar. That's just the hot spot right now. We'd also have to do Capital Grille, just for the steak. And Primo's for the margaritas. And there's all the sports that are a must. We'd have to go to a Mavs game. And a NASCAR race, definitely. The culture of that is just something everyone should see. |
