I have to agree and say the first season was very much built around Linc. I agree with Drama about those who believe Linc should be the one to die at the end. Having Linc die would defeat the purpose of the story because the whole thing started with Michael trying to save Linc. And what I really don't understand is how people justify wanting Linc to die by saying he's done a lot of bad things. Anytime someone points out to these people what Michael has done, they automatically say he was only being heroic. Have people forgotten how Linc got into that mess to begin with? He did it for his brother, for Michael. He wanted Michael to have the life he could never have. He wanted Michael to have a chance, and he wanted to protect him. Therefore, you can't really criminalize one more than the other, because both their actions were motivated by the same thing.
It didn't bother me. I thought Michael dying was a fitting ending to the story.

You always got the feeling that one day, Michael knew he was in some ways going to 'pay' for what he had done. I especially felt that in season 3, after he let the tunnel collapse on Sammy.
Having said that however, it is a tragic end. But (and i know very few will agree with me on this), there were hardly any options the writers could use to give Michael an ending which wasn't weak or left too many unanswered quetions.
Also, the killing of of Michael really does put a solid, undoubtable, irreversible end to Prison Break, preventing spin-offs, or continuations. (i know this was very unlikely, but still).
It also, sadly, adds to the message that Michael sacrificed everything for love of his brother and of Sara.
I agree. I think a part of him knew he would have to pay some sort of price in the end. He was the type of person who really let things affect him, even if he wasn't exactly forward about his emotions. He did wear it on his sleeve; he was very much an internatl person. With that being said, I think he felt like he maybe even deserved to pay. The big question is if he could have lived with himself after everything he had done. The story couldn't have ended with everyone surviving without betraying the true Prison Break formula. If the big death had been a different character, I don't think he (Michael) would have been able to live with himself and thus it couldn't really be considered a happy ending.

It's good to see someone else agrees.
