After seeing episode 12, I have a new theory on this one. What if Michael is to kill Susan? This act could propel the rest of the story in the coming seasons, provided the Company is interested in pursuing him as a threat? I don't think she'll give up anything on the Company if Michael threatens her with death, so in order to fight the Company Michael will need to enlist someone's (cough.....ahem....) help. Flight from this act could be even more jarring than flight from Fox River. You could never see them coming, or expect what they would do to you if they caught you.

My two cents.
