Default Reason why this season only has 13 episodes

Incase some of you dont know there is currenly a writers strike going on in hollywood. Almost all of the scripted shows are on hold. Prison break being one of them. When the strike started they just finished filiming episode 13. On February 18 (air date of episode 13) we will be left with a cliff hanger. My only fear is that fox may not want to continue with the rest of the season when the writers go back to work because of the low ratings. That is If the writers go back to work in April or later. If they make a deal in the next couple of weeks maybe they could start writing & filming and well see some new prison breaks in the end of march. Wade Williams mentioned some of this in his blog.

P.S. Prison Break wont be on next monday because the president is making a speach.

Yeah and he has to make his dammmmmmm speach during Prison break. It always been like this ..... it air 1 week and then don't for 2 month and then come back for a new episode then.... Anyway i don't care about waiting anymore, not like before. Before it was like the end of the world loll now it's just ... ok. I actually keep watching because there's nothing else on TV. I used to watch One tree hill but it don't air in canada wet, don't know why.

Hi there....
I think the issues surrounding the strike are not going to be settled soon enough for the season to resume with it's usual full 22 episodes, although I wish we could get a full season. Even if filming could indeed resume within the next couple of months, I don't think they would have enough time to squeeze in all the episodes into the current season. And I certainly don't want it to turn into something where they try to fit as much into any potential remaing episodes as possible, thereby compromising the story. The only solution I can think of is that they make a few double-lengthed episodes....at least things wouldn't be rushed with that approach.
I have to agree and say that I too am concerned that this may be the shows last seasons based on the decrease in ratings. I think this is partially due to the fact that there have been so many breaks between episodes that viewers have either lost interest or simply can't keep up with when each new episode airs. This is poor planning on the network's part, but there really isn't too much we can do about it. I wouldn't have been as concerned about a quick demise of the series if Fox didn't have other shows in the works and/or ones that seem to be replacing PB. First, American Idol has been a source of security for Fox and has to a degree guarenteed good ratings. And now with the new Terminator series, which has become quite popular among the public, I am beginning to wonder if PB can generate the same buzz and number of ratings.

I have to agree....the breaks are taking a toll on the popularity of the series...In the beginning, it helped build a certain level of aniticipation, but now it has become so common that it is to be expected.....it kind of interupts the whole flow of the viewing experience when you have to wait for so long.

I actually wondered why here in UK, Sky put back the return (ep9 onwards) yet another week... but obviously it was because we in UK could watch remaining episodes without a break here! It's about the only thing I thank them for!!!
I have to admit... I know absolutely nothing about american networks... Is Fox one of the biggest ones then? Surely you have something like..... for example... a Fox Channel 2.... that can instead carry the presidents speech? We do that here with our BBC1 & 2 Channel.... except sometimes they put the PB type programme instead on the second channel as it's sometimes the only time people would be watching the channel!!! LOL!!!

I kind of feel sorry for true fans of the show... as they have invested amazing amounts of time to the show!!! The show excites them and they have stayed loyal!!! Yes... for some... trying to keep up with PB's current on/off schedule has been an uphill battle!!! Obviously some casualities are going to fall down along the way!!
If I wish for anything to do with this show.... I wish that the writers have the respect for all concerned enough to end it properly!! It is a fantastic show.... best I have seen in a long time!!! I would genuinely hope that they would not compromise a good storytelling opportunity that has spanned brilliantly across last couple of seasons... and won't choose to do a ''rush, finish it to make way for other projects job'' The show, it's actors, and all who are involved with it deserve a riproaring .... 'GO OUT ON A HIGH' end!!!! It's the very least they owe to all their fans after this seasons scheduling mess!!!

I concur......and that is my biggest worry....I am a big fan, so I can keep up with when the show is coming on.....others can more easily lose track of the schedule since it has been so hectic. This, in turn, can affect the ratings, which may make the situation worse for all involved in the production of PB. I think all involved are amazing and talented...they are good at what they do and have done an excellent job of providing us with twists and turns which leave us sitting on the edges of our seats......I have also grown really fond of many of the actors, and as talented as I know they all are, I wonder if they will be able to repreat the success elsewhere.....This has happened before: You get attached to the show, grow to love the actors, and when the show ends, it seems like they disappear from the radar, despite their amazing acting abilities.....

Guys ..... It may not all be doom and gloom!!!
I picked up a UK paper today... 'Metro' Thurs Jan 24th and they had the following article in it!

I have had to type it out word for word... but if true it looks promising... can anyone find any more truth to this one???

FINAL SCENE APPROACHES IN US FILM WRITERS' STRIKE
''The longrunning scriptwriters strike could be coming to an end. The Writers Guild Of America has called off industrial action at the Grammy Awards next month and said it is ready to drop some demands.
The union was beginning formal talks yesterday with the Alliance Of Motion Picture & Television Producers in a bid to restart negotiations which stalled last year. The strike which centres on compensation for movies distributed online, has disrupted shows such as 24, starring Kiefer Sutherland, and has turned the normally glittering Golden Globes awards into a press conference''

Ok then... first of all.. the above does look hopeful doesn't it???
And secondly.... God.. that was hard to type out something and not put at least one smiley face into it...

Any thoughts on this?

I still don't know, Smiley. Yes, there is some progress and they have slackened their demands a bit...but still there is going to be some vigourous negotiations....and will it be resoleved in enough time for a full season?

I don't know either Candy... You must hear more then we do.... living over in the country it's all actually happening in... we have to do with the odd bit being written and plumped somewhere in the middle of other news mid way thru a paper!!! We don't tend to hear that much about what is going on! It would be nice to know they are making some headway though!
