| Hi I have a few questions. What are your opinions and break down of the ideas created in the show? I.E why did they choose certain prisons in each situation. Was fox river a good choice? Why? I am going to quote whatever you say about this and present in class. |

| Hello kke Welcome to the forums.... Fox River, I believe is a made up name for the prison.... It's really Joliet Prison in Illinois! One thing you should know about Prison break and it's attention to detail in S1, regarding Linc's method of electrocution in the chair...in Illinois.... although, it once allowed electrocution as a method for execution... The first one in illinois might even have been performed there.... BUT..... The State of Illinois does not now in present day sanction electrocution as a method of execution.... in fact of the 38.... YES, 38 American states that sanction the death penalty, there is actually only one state that does so... and it's Nebraska! But for artistic play in Prison Break, they used electrocution as their method of execution! They now do lethal injection etc.... instead!!!! I believe the Prison itself was opened in or around the 1860's.... and had 700-800 prisons in it's hay day!!! It eventually closed in or around 2003.... just prior to Prison Break characters taking up residence there! The same Prison was also the set for a scene or two in the movie Blues Brothers... and some Kevin Bacon movie who's name sadly has currently escaped me.... I'm sure if you google in Joliet Prison, illinois... you will get some more up to date info on this subject! Hope this helps... Welcome again to the forums... Catch up soon! Smiley

| ^^^ Hey Helps.... After much googling.... I came across this.... http://www.clarkprosecutor.org/html/death/dpusa.htm Which includes a slight change to my earlier above comments.... Nebraska, the only US state to sanction the use of electric chair, now does not... so therefore I believe that although 10 US state actually sanctions the use of Electric chair as a method of execution, Nebraska up to recently was the only one who actually carried it out... which made the Lincoln Prison Break plot incorrect and totally for TV like.... | the prison in panama was inspired by another prison in which the inmates rebelled and the guards pulled out. it wasn't as extreme as in the show, but it's based on an actual incident. |
